I’m going to be starting the Velocity Diet Tomorrow. 28 days of nothing but Protein Shakes/Flaxseeds and some other pills. Except for the exceptional oatmeal/egg breakfast once a week.
I did the BodPod this morning and these are the stats:
6’2
264.8 lbs
23.3% Body Fat
The goals after the 28day diet are:
Lose 25 pounds. (Over 90% Fat)
Have minimal strength gains.
I will be doing a 3 possibly 4 day split. A strenuous routine. High Reps low rest. Limited Exercises though.
I will not be using HOT-ROX as it is banned by USADA and WADA.
But I will be using Metabolic Drive, Surge. I bought milled flaxseeds, Animal Pak Multi, Salmon Oil, and Optimum’s BCAAs.
I am also type 1 diabetic. I’m training to make the Olympic team this year in the discus. I will be aiming to get to around 240-245 at around 12% bodyfat by December/January.
I chose this diet to jumpstart myself and start the training off great.
Any support will be more than welcome, I think balancing the blood sugar levels and staying energized will be the toughest part.
I will post more day to day. Including some pics.
Definitely not going to weigh myself until the end. Where I will do the same scale and time of day.
Well, I took some time off this year after throwing in the Collegiate season and then after graduation and NCAA Nationals I went over to Europe and was able to throw at the PanAms and got silver. (Terrible conditions!). So my season started in late January and lasted until july 29th.
That month turned into a little more time, I just needed to let the body get back to doing absolutely nothing. But I continued to eat like I was training hard. Hence the bodyfat % increase.
I chose the V-Diet because it seems to shred the weight off quickly. I am leaning towards doing a 4 day split, but could stick with 3. It will be a 4x12 with 2mins rest type thing. Basically shock and awe. With a diet red bull before to make sure I have a lil energy to get through it. Thoughts are always welcome.
day 1 workout is done.
The workout itself is brutal.
here is a sample
using weights ranging from 55-65% 1RM
Ab Circuit with Dynamic Warmup
5x5 clean/jerk 2mins rest.
rest 5 mins when complete then:
5x12 Squats, sets 4/5 SS with Unilateral Leg Press 2mins rest
5x12 DB SLDL, set 4/5 SS with Lying Leg Curls 2 mins rest
5x12 Machine Calf Raises, sets 4/5 SS with Squatting Calf Raises? 2mins rest

Day 1 starts in 8 hours. Yey? hahaha
I will get some pics later on.[/quote]
You’re an olympic level athlete and I’m not (at least yet…) so obviously know yourself better than I do… Do you have a time frame for your fat loss “phase” or is that your main goal before your olympic trails? Or do you just want to get it over with ASAP? Either way, kick ass!

I suggest you rethink the not weighing yourself decision. I found daily weigh-ins provided instant feedback into whether what I was doing was working. In particular it helped me adjust my portions of Metabolic Drive in the beginning. I kept a blog.
Well I would like to lose around 20lbs of fat in the Velocity diet, to kinda jump start me into this offseason. The workout by itself is hard as hell, So if i can make it through the diet and the workouts I’m pretty confident it will happen.
I’m kind of using this site as a blog, figured it might be a cool thing for other athletes/diabetics to check out.
I will definitely look into weighin myself, possibly on friday.
I still haven’t received my stuff from Biotest yet, Order 2 day on Monday before noon, so I am hoping it comes in today. I have been surviving on Flax seeds, optimum’s 100% whey, salmon oil, and Optimum’s amino 2222, and of course Animal Pak.
Today is a non-workout day, but I will go in and do some low intensity cardio and a little ab circuit.
The blood sugar levels have been pretty awesome. Had one spike last night around 171. And had one low after helping someone whose truck had broke down on the road. That lil burst of energy took the blood sugar down when it was already a little low. So i had 8oz. of cranberry juice, and unplugged the insulin pump to let it get in fast. It worked and i was back to normal in about 15 mins.
I will minimize those hypoglycemia episodes, b/c i know at that point I need carbs to replenish. But i need to stick to the diet as close as I can.

A couple times you mentioned “flax seeds”. You mean milled or ground flax seeds, not whole seeds, right? In order to get the benefit of the fats in the seeds then then need to be milled or ground.
ok end of Day 2.
I just recieved my GiNormous Biotest order.
And after using Optimum nutrition for about 2 years. I have to say that Biotest is hands down the best protein powder I have ever had. I did 2 scoops chocolate and 1 scoop banana.
Unreal!
I will try the Surge tomorrow after my snatch/push workout.
The blood sugar has ranging from 88 to 147 today. Very normal levels which I am very happy with. It was hard watching the girlfriend eat a huge quizno’s sub though. (she’s a fast sprint swimmer).
I will write more tomorrow. But i can already tell that with the Biotest shakes that this will be easy.
I’m thinkin about my meal of the week for saturday during college football…any suggestions??
I’m glad to hear that the Biotest stuff came in. good luck on the diet and keep us posted on how the weight drop is going. hey, where are the pictures you promised us?

well, day 3 is over and done with.
the workout was brutal, and i think the original Surge tastes terrible. i kinda have to force myself to take it down. i like how i feel with it though, it definitely gives me the fuel i need during the workout and replenishes me afterwards.
i might be tryin raspberry next…
this was the hardest day yet, but gotta keep it going.
ok, it doesnt taste TERRIBLE. I just dont think it is for me, dont mean to offend anyone with that. i’m thinkin the raspberry might be better? any thoughts?
The first couple times I took Surge it had a horrible taste to me. Now I love the stuff, I say mix it with more water than it calls for to water down the over powering taste that it can have.
