Olympic Fries

#1

Like most of you I am looking forward to the Games, which kick off tomorrow evening but one thing that I have recently read is just fucking ridiculous... McDonalds have a monopoly on the sale of fries in all Olympic venues! That means you cannot buy fries anywhere except in McDonalds?

The only way you can purchase fries (chips) other than that McDonalds shite is if you order fish n chips from another retailer. Has McDonalds got a patent on chips now? I wouldn't mind but their version of chips couldn't even be described as chips! Are they afraid that someone might eat a real chip i.e. fried chipped potatoes and come to the realisation that it actually tastes better?

that article is screwed up. Or rather the existence of the news in it. The world is doomed.

Wait…I’m having deja vu…isn’t this an old thread???

Seeing as I worked in the olympic park throughout summer I can confirm that this was true. You could only buy McDonalds fries on site, it was so extreme that the WORKFORCE CATERING WERE NOT ALLOWED TO SERVE CHIPS! So basically the people who serve FREE food to the staff away from the spectators weren’t allowed to make chips.

I mean, the shops were not allowed to display any products from companies that were not sponsors, i.e.: chocolate from Cadburys (biggest chocolate manufacturer in the UK) could not have their bars on display.

To be completely honest though I applaud McDonalds for not hiking their prices during the games whereas every other catering outlet served food at ridiculous prices. Only thing that angered me was the removal of double cheese burgers from the menu…

Relax.

We’re not the US so no rioting occurred.

LOL there really would be a riot here, but at least the insanely fat would be getting some physical activity.

Throwing freedom fries could be an event.

How many events can T-Nation think of?

The Olympic name and logo are fiercely protected trademarks. Local traders were banned from cashing in. I’m surprised about Cadburys not being able to sell their wares openly on site when they’d already produced cock-shaped chocolate reproductions of the Olympic mascots.

Guys am I going nuts? Isn’t this a thread we had before? I mean SLainge’s first post is dated July 27th.

Wait…maybe it was one of those frequent double-posts and crazy ol’ Andrew Live went and resurrected it.

lol saw the thread, read the article, many what the fucks were shouted. Its just the olympics really have been totally commercialized. I mean it almost seems like it matters more what company sponsors the athlete than what country they are from. Its messed up.

french indeed.

How about “Gravy Steeple” Cover the athletes in gravy and have them run the steeple and let a wolverine high on angel dust chase after them. Everyone is a winner unless your last…then youre definitely not a winner.
