Old Guy Strength

Sandbag. Good.

Maybe check out the various sandbag workouts on youtube.

That was a much needed sweat. Due to cutbacks we have eliminated several other admin jobs at work. It only means my duties have grown huge. This week has been crazy.

The one nice thing about training at home, I can do a circuit and not be the a-hole who takes all the gear. I’m also lucky I have been acquiring more stuff.

45 in each hand x 300 steps
55 in each hand x 200 steps
65 in each hand x 100 steps
100 in each hand x 100 steps

I had to post this photo below of my friend Les during last weeks Farmers’ Walk Monday. He really wanted to take his shirt off, and didn’t want to offend my wife or myself. I told him I didn’t really care what he did. I then gave him a hard time and told him old guys always try to get naked.

The sandbags should be here Thursday. I have been looking at the YouTube video biker suggested. I think they are versatile enough I can use it about everyday.

Today was nothing special. The garage door stayed closed this morning. The air quality here is at dangerous levels because of all the wild fires in the region. The photo below is from my backyard. It might look like clouds or fog, but that’s smoke. I’ve had an on again, off again headache for days. I’m not look forward to today’s lawn mowing.

Stay safe

I imagine you aren’t near the fires.

We had one about 25 miles from my house. It burned 75,000 acres. There are just so many around. The smoke is much worse today.

Farmers’ Carry:
35 in each hand x 400 steps
45 in each hand x 300 steps
55 in each hand x 200 steps
65 in each hand x 100 steps
Sandbag Shoulder Carry x 500 steps
Sandbag Bearhug Carry x 400 steps

It’s much to unhealthy to train outside today. I was forced to do all my carries in the garage. I just walked in circles around the parking area. I am finding there is much to learn with the sandbag. Today I just did what I could think of.

Below is what it looked like when I came home from work today. The smoke has gotten even worse. They are not expecting it to get better for days. Even in the garage it’s a little hazy, so I cranked up my large fan.

I have lived here all my life and have never seen anything like this.

Glad you got your sandbag(s). Good, raw strength builder, and a full bag seems a bit easier to carry.

Might want to minimize/stop workouts until that smoke clears.

The smoke is still pretty heavy, but it seems to be better today. They really are not expecting things to improve much until this weekend. I didn’t notice it in the garage. My gym opened up on Monday, so I could have gone there. I think I am going to give it a couple of weeks first, and let them iron things out.
