Shit, I think most people who label Obama as a socialist, and do so with a negative connotation to it, don’t even understand what socialism really is. Sure, there’s the Marxist version of it that sees socialism as a stepping stone to changing from capitalism to communism, but this is only one theory about socialism out of many. I don’t believe in socialism as it pertains to Marx, but to label Obama as a socialist and infer that moving toward socialism is somehow evil or wrong is ridiculous. There are all sorts of forms of socialism that have little resemblance to Marx’s very narrow theories about it that make a lot of sense and are far from deserving some sort of negative association.

I’m a registered Libertarian, not a Democrat trying to cover for Obama, but I think a lot of people who are critical of Obama and his “socialist” leanings just latch onto the word “socialism” because of its somewhat undeserved association with communism (which really is deserving of harsh criticism, to say the least). It’s an easy way for a lot of people who don’t like Obama to criticize him without having to think very hard about why.

If people who brand Obama a socialist because of some perceived leaning toward Marxism don’t like him because of it, just come right out and call him a fucking commie. That’s what those people are trying to imply anyways, right?

Yeah, no shit. Lol…fucking foreigners. Hard-line right wingers may not be known for their rationalism, but who on either far end of the spectrum is? I don’t give a fuck if I get flamed. It’s just a fucking Internet forum. I’ve been flamed on here for all sorts of shit. Maybe I won’t get flamed. Shit, who am I kidding? I’m probably gonna get roasted. Fuck it.

I am sorry but communist russia was by far the most rationnal regime. You may think whatever you want about them but remember this: they didnt believe in god. And the other side of the sea there was Reagan who was saying that you couldnt trust them because they didnt believe in god.

A lot of conservatives are fearful about the “socialist” health care reform taking place, and yet they don’t understand that you can KEEP your private healthcare plan if you want to. It’s probably the best way to elevate the lower/middle class to a better standard of living and even educate them about the importance of healthy lifestyles. I think the specifics of the process will need to be tuned, but ultimately in 5-20 years it will likely lead to a much better system.

Are you for real? Do you know how the justice system worked in the USSR? You’re accused of crimes against the state, arrested with no legal recourse whatsoever, you’re found guilty based on who knows what sort of trumped up evidence, they take you out in the hallway and put a bullet in your head. Oh yeah, and no one else knows about it because there’s no such thing as freedom of the press, freedom of information act or anything else along those lines. You want to know how communism works? Look up the 100 Flowers Campaign or Mao’s Cultural Revolution and then get back to me about being “rational”. At least in America we have the freedom to believe in whatever kind of God we want as well as the freedom to believe in no God. Not so in the USSR. Holy shit you’re so fucking ignorant. You like communism, huh? Move to North Korea or China and see how much you like it then.

Do I really need to bring out the CBO report? Why don’t you go look up some facts before you start talking. Trust me you have no Idea what you are talking about. My advice to you would be to run away from this subject right now.

Couldn’t agree more. The only people really benefiting from the current system are the insurance companies anyways. People can’t afford decent healthcare and a lot of doctors can’t afford to open up a private practice due to the sky high insurance costs.
