Hi. I keep reading how oatmeal is so awesome for you on this site. Why? Why is it better than a piece of whole wheat bread for example? They have the same fiber and the bread actually have more protein per calorie.


A lot of it has to do with the processing… and resulting GI or II of the food.

Mainstream bread, in general, has a very high GI. Some breads may not be so bad though.

However, all that said, it depends on your goals and whether or not you may have a tendency towards insulin resistance.
