Nutrition Books

Can anyone recommend a solid nutrition book for athletes that breaks down food in real life portions with their calorie, protein, carbs, and fat contents. Thanks so much.

Big Mar,

Be hesitant with your terminology. A good nutrition book’s content is not characterized by comprehensive food listings and corresponding calorie, carbohydrate, protein, and fat content.

Rather, what I believe that you’re looking for is a comprehensive nutrition facts desk reference.

However, instead of looking for a hardcopy of such, I would suggest that you opt for the World Wide Web, where you’ll find many a site with extensive nutrition databases and options, such as changing portion sizes.

a good book to read is ultimate diet secrets by dr greg ellis

Try this:

THANKS ALL, ANYONE ELSE…

www.nutri-facts.com is also a good one. not quite as comprehensive as the USDA one, but easier to use.

I own the Nutrition Bible and it has a good listing of nutrition facts on whole foods. But I agree that you’ll find more information on the Internet. Netrition has an extensive food database at:

Netrition Food Database

Another good choice is:

nutri-facts.com

Is this what you are looking for?

I like this website for macro nutrient breakdowns. It is fairly comprehensive and free. However, it does seem to go offline quite a bit.

bump, anyone else.
