Indoor swim - 45 min
Stand in line to vote with the wife - about 1.5 hours. We live out in the county and vote at very rural church. Have never had to wait to vote before. Most time taken is usually chat with the poll workers. Never seen it this crowded. Good to see. Took forever for us to vote twice! (That’s a joke)

How’s the stretch on the shoulders with the dips? I seem to remember you used to have some shoulder mobility hurdles in the past…

No problem with the dips. Where I have the problem is doing behind the neck press or squats with the back on my back. Can’t do BTN press and when I was squating had to put my hands out to the collars to get under the bar. Even before 2nd shoulder replacement I had a hard time getting under the bar. Old, old pix, 82 if I remember. You’ll notice even then I had to put my hands to the collars with no thumbs. (You’ll notice the sophisticated lifting apparel and meet conditions).squat

Beautiful day. Started cool, got up to 70f, not a cloud in the sky. Early morning run-2m
Down to the dojo for an hour of kata, 1/2 hour of sparing with the owner and then some tonfa work which has been sorely lacking. We had dinner at 4th brother’s house where his wife made Miso Soup (secret recipe), sushi, and a nabemono pot.

Saturday - Indoor swim. Guess everyone was being lazy so I got a 1.5 hr block. Did an hour of regular crawl and about 20 minutes of very lazy breaststoke.

Today - got back up to near 80f.Couldn’t help it. Loaded up 5 discus and headed down to the college. Whole place to myself so threw for almost 2 hours. Rusty as hell but it felt great. lot of power positon throws and then full form. Shoulders probably gonna have something to say to me tomorrow. Ran 1.5 miles at the end. All I had time for. Had to get to the State Vets Home to cook up breaskfast. Them guys get real mean when they get hungry, “Already got my damn teeth in Chief, where’s the food?”. After dinner we set up the BarBQ pit and and brother Remi took over the cooking chores. Lots and lots of ribs. Because of the Virus the Vets couldn’t go into down so the Parade came to them. Lots of cars decked out patriotic drove by the home palying some nusic, waving and saluting. One of the appreciative vets summed up how touch they were with his question, “Where’s the girls in bathing suits!?” Love these guys.

Weather turned cool today. Headed to the pool and got an 1.5 time block again. Crawl for an hour and breast stroke for 15 minutes. The Natatorium is in the middle of some woods next to a smal lake. Went straight from the swim to a lap around the lake. Felt like a little over a mile. Headed over to number 5 brothers house, just so happened to show up right at lunch time. Bulgogi, Kkakdugi (cubed radish Kimchi), and kimbap. All good and spicy.

Went out to the Post Gym today so used some different machines. Always liked the hammer Incline. Met up with the wife for a commissary and BX run and then hit Firehouse Subs to take home some lunch. I got a 12", she got the 6" so I ended up with about 15" of sub cause she never eats more than half. Threw in a big bag of Lay’s vinegar flavor chips. Think I might copyright my dietary program.

Sunday, so my friends dojang was closed and I had it all to myself. Worked kata and Poomse for and hour, did rolls, and finished up with some bag work. Took about 2 hours. Showered and felt great. All our wives, neices, grand nieces took Mutti to Church and then out to big brothers after for a planning session for the upcoming Thanksgiving meal. Menu, who makes what, etc. Our first Thanksgiving and Christmas here in the States in 3 years so looking forward to it.

They’re having “virtual” T&F meets now. Film yourself throwing and measuring and submit your scores. Guess everyones honest. Haven’t thrown much this year but it will at least give me something to motivate me. And I’m in that new 65 year category now so may try it. Thing is I can’t come near in practice what I throw in a meet. Guess I need the competition.May give it a try though.

Between the lifting, swimming, running, and MA I’m having a hard time working everything in. So on the lifting I’m going to just 3 routines I’m going to hit everything on 2 days instead of 3. Chest. Back, legs and then Shoulder and arms.

Disclaimer. My posts are very benign and non-controversial. No admin, fellow old folk lifters or lifting gurus are harmed, insulted, demeaned or discredited in my postings. In other words boring. Really sorry we may lose a couple of posters over problems in other forums. Couple of them actually carried on conversations and not just posted lifting numbers.
Started here in 2007, a young, spry 52 year old. Probably gives me some kinda senority. Site was different then. Fewer categories for one. Fewer regular posters,too. Over 35 forum was a lot more personal then. Guys going through divorces, medical problems, PTSD, just talking to each other and giving what support they could. More business like now. To each their own. Guess it’s a sign of old age when you start getting nostalgic. It’s Saturday night so sipping some Jamesons, smokin a Iberian Express stogey and watching music vids on you tube.
