About 57f this morning but the river was still warm. Slow an easy 750m out and as fast as I could do the 750m back. Not much current so not too hard. Shoveled and moved gravel, a lot, from point A to B for the wife to achieve Feng Shui harmony in our ever changing backyard landscape. Grilled a nice rib-eye for my dinner and a Bangus (milkfish) for the wife. Trying out a Padron Delicias Natural cigar and sippin some Jameson’s while watching Yellowstone. Now that’s my Feng Shui.

Late afternoon, almost too late. Promised the wife I won’t swim in the dark anymore. Quick half mile run and 500m swim. Big lunch with a couple of the brothers so felt I needed to work some off.

I hear ya on the straight bar curls. They stopped being comfortable about 5 years ago for me.

Hard rain all day so curtailed the swim and run. Wife and I had our annual eye exams. She’s been telling me I squint when I read and the Doctor said I need reading glasses. Bodies just letting me down.
After lunch headed to the dojo for some bag and mat work. Dental check up tomorrow.

Weekend was a blur of eating and drinking. Zydeco night at the Knights of Columbus building. Lots of good food, drink and music. Got into a crawdad boil with home made Andouille to die for and chased down with some good Joli Blon beer. Jack Daniels came later. As usual, famiy members warned me not to sing. Sunday, a great nephews 21st so more eating an drinking.
Finally got around to a 100m swim and 1 mile run today. Back to the gym tomorrow. Adding a little zydeco for those not blessed to be familiar with it.

Zydeco has gotten nationwide attention, probably none for Andouille sausage. Good stuff here in south Louisiana.

I have sinned. After much pleading by one of my favorite great nieces, and she knows it, I went with her to (gulp) Planet Fitness today. Her Mom got her a membership, $10 a month, no contract. She wanted me to show her what to do. “join a real gym” wasn’t what she wanted to hear. I was surprised. Yes, everything was purple and there were no oly bars. The place was huge. Probably 50 treadmills, beaucoup ellipticals and stair climbers. 15 Hammer smith machine s, each with a full compliment of weights, 3 complete sets of dumbbells from 3# to 80#. Many hammer machines, all with at least 3 of each. Complete compliment of preset barbells and honestly the first time I’d seen preset ez curl bars. And yes, there were babes baring their midriffs and some jacked guys. Not what I expected. No, you’re not going to powerlift there or do strongman. You don’t see or hear a lot of the noise I’m used to and it really didn’t have the old gym atmosphere I like but you could do worse. Showed the niece some basics, glared at a couple of guys who looked to long and did an after workout lunch at her Mom and Pops restaurant. I was her favorite Uncle at least for the day.

Hesitating at just jumping to 405. Sure I can pull it and sure I can get to my 455 goal without much problems. Had to ask myself why? Did them for years and they helped me throw things farther. Not competing and wandering if I really need the strain on the body or if I need to be moving to a more healthy style of lifting.
