No More 'Over 35 Lifter'?

it’s target market for the products sold here are probably males between the ages of 16 and 30 or so with the occassional, but unprofitable exception.

You may be correct. I’m sure there are a lot less lifters over 35 than in the 16-30 range.

However, the over 35 lifter may need suppliments MORE than younger lifters for many reasons - including declining testosterone, slowed recovery time and joint injuries. Also, the average 35+ lifter may have more disposable income to spend on suppliments than younger lifters.

Before finding this site, I used no Biotest products. After finding this site (specifically the Over 35 Lifter forum), I give most of suppliment business to Biotest.

I don’t continue to buy their products because of the site - I continue to buy them because they are quality products. However, the Over 35 forum does make me appreciate Biotest all the more.
older people might need supps more, but that doesn’t stop younger lifters from wanting them. maybe things are different now than when you were younger, but 5 years ago while i was still in highschool, athletes, lifters etc spent tons of money on protien, creatine, andro which was legal at the time and on the wrestling team, diet pills.

i never went without protien powder myself.

needs and wants are great, but money spent is what affects the bottom line.

Why?

It seems perfectly logical to have separate forums for these two groups of people. I know all the old posts were not lost but rather lumped in together but, again, why?

I would bet that the average 30+ year old T-Nation member outspends the average guy in the 16-30 range on their annual Biotest purchases. I have no data to support this, it’s just a hunch. Besides, I don’t think it’s a bandwidth issue if all of the threads have been moved into the BB section and the ladies’ forums have been eliminated.

DB
i would bet you are right about the spending, but you are looking at it on an individual basis. 3 16-30 year olds spending a combined $300 per month is still more than 1 35+ lifter spending 250, and i would bet younger lifters outnumber older lifters.

it may not be a bandwidth issue, and threads have been moved, but there are less mediums to post topics now and this may slim down the overall amount of posts. it’s pretty common when running a webpage to cut down topics so as to create disinterest in those topics over time, which frees up space.

most people just start discussing topics in the remaining threads.

Well said. But you alluded to the fact that others outside of this demograph as “the occasional, but unprofitable exception.”

I would argue, as do others, that we over 35ers are not unprofitable for Biotest.

You make another good point here that I hadn’t considered - the longer term. I was only thinking about right now.

well, the unprofitable over 35 yr olds would be due to keeping over 35 year old interest here on the site. it costs money to own bandwidth, and if it costs more to attract 35 plus lifters than those lifters spend, it is unprofitable.

of course, i am just speculating, but it doesn’t make sense any other way i have thought about it for T-Nation to have dropped the topic.

EDIT: DB beat me to the punch.

Maybe they could just make the Over 35 forum available from 5am till 8pm. You know until Matlock is over. Maybe in bigger print.

Biotest should come up with a viagra like product. Gonadabolic Drive! TURGID! Something along those lines.

I like it! Gonadabolic Drive. I want my balls to be hyooge! So big that I can’t find pants that fit. So big, that I need to wheel them around. I’m thinking Johnny Dangerously big.

What happened to the girls?

I think that’s called Alpha Male. Or if they made a new one, they could call it Grow! Oh, I guess that’s already taken.

As for bandwidth, if all the same posts are still here, it shouldn’t affect the bandwidth at all, unless the over 35 crowd up and leave.

Frankly, I never posted to Over 35 because the information I needed was pretty much all elsewhere. (Is a squat somehow different for a 40 year old than for a 23 year old? )

And the HRT discussions are just repeats of the same old discussions. Same questions, same answers, over and over again.

What I would like to see are forums for…

 1. Recipes and cooking, period.
 2. Injuries, recovery and medical questions (except the ones about “why does it hurt when I pee?” which can go on the Sex and the Male Animal forum.)
 3. Fat loss only (unisex, and no fat bashers allowed)
 4. Mature lifters (meaning anybody who isn’t a f&*k wad, POS troll)
 5. Japanese prostitutes

I have to agree there. I could barely afford supplements at all in college and rarely relied on much aside from cheap creatine and cheap protein supplements. My monthly bill here has got to be over 100 bucks on average. What 16 year old is paying tht much unless their allowance challenges Richie Rich?

There are plenty of forums for old lifters. I tried to get one for us 60+ years old farts but we are such a tiny minority that T-Nation is not interested in us. So farewell guys some of you might make it to 60 one day.

So Mods - what say you?

Any chance of getting the “Over 35 Lifter” forum back?

Thanks!
