Yes, he died this morning. He was 85.

There was a big write up in the local English paper today about his life and accomplishments. He did a lot for the sport and a lot for my city of Montreal as well.

Ya mess 'round wit them thar steeroids and ya see what happens!

Wait, so one of the biggest contributors to bodybuilding ever dies and the thread gets filled with picture jokes?

Cause Joe’s always been a classy motherfucker…

Edit: But this isn’t about Joe, death is death and however you cut it they did promote the shit out of BBing, so respect is due.

Man, have a little respect. Ben Weider, although I don’t endorse his philosophy, was the founding father of bodybuilding. No matter what bodybuilding inspires you, gyms and lifting culture originate from there, so you should at least shut up if you nothing more interesting to say. Let the deads rest in peace and show you have a bit of class

I didn’t know he died either, but I knew who he was, and NO I’m not as old as he is…yet. Actually the ignorance here is disappointing to me, Whether you like Ben or hate him, how could anybody here NOT know who this man was?

RIP Ben.
