Is making a mockery of the First Amendment.

The gist is Elaine Huguenin, a professional photographer, refused to photograph Vanessa Willock’s same-sex commitment ceremonies, and the New Mexico Human Rights Commission held that this violated state antidiscrimination law. Elane has been ordered to pay over $6600 in attorney’s fees and costs.

The First Amendment’s freedom of speech - in this case, the freedom to not be forced to speak - should trump whatever state antidiscrimination law NM has.
