Ninja Warrior TV Show

Has anyone else seen this? Comes on all the time on G4. Basically a Japanese “American Gladiators”, with massive lulz and sweet obstacle courses.

Pic unrelated.

I seen it once or twice. Those guys are in crazy shape. I think they have K1 fighters on the show too.

The show is great. I love when they show the “ninjas” training at home. They set up the obstacle courses at home!

Ninja Warrior is awesome! I wish they built something like that near my house.

Im jealous.

I want G4 so bad I actually took a second job just so I can afford it. Im getting it in a few months. I’m missing;

Bonzai
Attack of the Show
Brainiac
X-Play
and that show that only comes on late at night… help me with this one…

These cartoon bunnies or squirrles kill eachother in horrible ways… one of them was a vietnam vet and the other a girl scout… anyway thats the damn best. Followed up, are a series of independent short films and commercials. One is with a kid who yells at his mom when he’s playing counterstrike…

Whatever that segment of programming is called (I know it has a name) is worth every penny I make.

I found out…

Happy Tree Friends.

Can’t wait to see Ninja Warrior still…

Are you serious? I mean, Ninja Warrior is pretty cool, and I still watch X-Play but other than that…someone needs to put that channel out of it’s misery. The writing for AotS is just god awful, the only way I could laugh at those two idiot’s jokes and one liners is if I was paid. A lot. They try way too hard only to really get the attention of boys in the 10th grade.

TechTV was one of the coolest channels on TV and G4 fucked it up beyond repair.

Those gymnast dudes are crazy strong.

analog,i tune in to AotS to watch the woman who gives dating advice, then i turn it off

HAHA, I thought about making a thread about ninja warrior the other day…
What impresses me the most is their grip strength, that globe grab looks brutal, and the cliffhanger.

Of course being over 130lbs dosn’t help you in that show but it is still impressive.
I saw an episode with an American (some olympian?) who was 6’3" 200lbs and he passed the first stage but the extra weight you could tell taxed his grip to much and he failed on the 2nd stage

Thats true, I understand that. That’s because E! bought the damn channel and added Arrested Development, Cops, and a few other notables that suck camel balls beyond recognition. AtoS also has a quality issues, no argument there.

But I will fight you on the CombatSports network with Bodog fights and fight sport channel. That certainly blows G4 out of the water.

I have neither, but want both. Once 84 removes said programming and ups its current quality, I dont know what I want to Tivo more…

His name wa Pual Terek. I know this because there was a weekend long marathon and I think I’ve watched about 12 hours of this show now. It rocks. If anyone out there has any idea of how to audition for this, please post it somewhere.

Actually, G4 is holding this contest where you send in a tape of you doing stuff (i.e. displays strength, agility, etc.) and you could win a chance to compete in the real thing. I plan on entering (due in a week!)

How would someone train for something like this? I’ve tried the obstacles at home (more or less), and my hands give out before anything else on the third stage-ish stuff (Right hand is covered in wicked blisters).

In the US, rock climbing would probably be the most readily available. There are rock gyms all over the place. Its gonna take time and lots of practice. Endurance and Tendon strength take a long time to develop. Just takes time climbing up and down. Look for the pinch grips and fingerboards, just get used to hanging on them and build up to pullups.

For the 1st stage obstacle course research “Parkour”. That should provide enough variety of surfaces and obstacles to navigate.

Anybody check out the “Chicas of Ninja Warrior” specials? Those broads were smokin’.

Ideally you would build a replica of the various obstacles…

Since I doubt that is a possibility, strength endurance and grip strength seems to be most important

I live in Suburban Queens, so there are plenty of parks around, and this pool club by my house has this little playground where I’ve managed to fenagel a couple obstacles, like the Cliff Hanger (sometimes I even practice on this I-Beam at my gym) by grabbing the top of this swing set that the Climbing Bars are attached to (pats self on back for segue), and the kiddie swing set has wider bars about 2 feet apart, perfect for teh jumping. But like I said, any good exercies to snap my HANDS into shape? I already do pullups, and can bang out 15 on a good day. THAT much I know.

As far as the rope stuff goes, where would I be able to find a good climbing rope?

Not quite ninja warrior, but worth the watch.
