yeah the sole on those mbt’s looks like a rocking chair. i don’t think aesthetics are that important. the ugliest shoes ever made are chuck taylors and look how popular those are.
if you’re looking for a flexible, neutral-heel shoe that’s comfortable and that you can take to the gym or walk around in all day, go for a pair of rubber-soled spikeless track shoes. there’s really nothing better. plus they’re inexpensive and you have a huge variety to choose from. go to any specialty online running store (like dick pond athletics) and you’ll see what i mean (the asics corrido is my personal fave, but they’re a bit hard to come by). you can also try racing flats, though some of those may not be as flat and may have built in stability devices making them less “natural” and flexible.
