Nick Israel's Training Log

Hello everyone,

My name is Nick Israel. I am 23 years old and I am a competitive powerlifter. I graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Exercise Physiology. I will be attending physical therapy school at FIU this fall to pursue my doctorate of physical therapy. Brady Stewart here at Iron Authority has been kind enough to provide me with this great opportunity. I lift in the USAPL and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Some of my accomplishments in powerlifting are:

T3 American 198 3-Lift Bench Press Record

Junior American 181 Bench-only Record

Numerous State records in various weight classes from 181 to 242

I am planning on moving back into the 198 weight class and setting both the collegiate and open American bench records. I would also like to attempt to break the total records as well. I am also hoping to attempt to break the IPF world record for the new 205 weight class in the near future. My next planned competition is the USAPL Florida collegiate championships this October.

I am looking forward to this opportunity and I hope some of you come along for the ride.

Shoulder Accessory Work

Here is my last training video.

how do you find squat shoes compared to something that has no heel like wrestling shoes.

I personally feel better in a heeled shoe. Alot of people prefer flat shoes though. In general the wider you squat the more likely you will need a flat shoe. I squat shoulder width to just outside my shoulders. As such i feel the heel allows me to hit depth easier and I feel more stable. I also like the heel for benching as well.
