Hey guys, after finally getting my back to where i feel comfortable doing deadlifts, i did them for the first time tuesday night. is it normal that my traps, mid and lower back, and hams are brutally fucking sore? my main concern was my lower back, but i was told i had perfect form throughout.
Sounds like you hit all the muscles youre supposed to, so I’m going to go with yes.
Sounds like you did it right.
First time I did deadlifts, I thought I was going to die for a few days afterwards. They are the one of the best (the best?) exercises for a reason.
Yes, sounds like you found the right muscles. When I do my back day, which includes deadlifts, I am unable to effecticly do them again all week. My lower back gets incredibly sore, and I’m a beginner too.

I don’t think your lower back should be that bad if you’re using proper form.
Well, I believe my form has gotten better and I’m experiencing less lower back pain. I should probably record myself doing deadlifts and then analyze my form.
Well, seen as I have used them as a recovery for a back injury, along with squats, and i have tripled my lower back strength, I cant be doing them too badly, otherwise I would be aggravating the problem, not solving it.
I was doing triplets that day, and got a personal best, so I’m not surprised I am sore.
Sounds about right. I’m in the same boat as far as soreness goes although my glutes are usually pretty sore too from locking out. My lower back gets pretty sore but I believe it’s more from poor form than anything else as I’m still a beginner.
Sounds like you’re doing it right. The low back pain is an alert for a little concern though. Not that it shouldn’t be sore but just make sure that throughout the movement the spine stays straight. LOCK UP your core and make sure not to compress the spine.
alright, thanx for all the input guys! i fuckin love doin deads now, im pretty sad i been missing out all these years
Just to add my 2 pennies, make sure you’re getting enough protein post workout, can cut down on the soreness, although yes, deadlifts are brutally hard on the body.
