When starting a new program that requires using percentages of your 1RM as starting weights, do you take a week or two to determine these maxes? Or jump in to the program guessing at a weight and basically just keep ramping during the program until you plateau?
If you don't know your maxes, you probably shouldn't be doing a program that's based on 1RM's.
If you just haven't maxed in a while, you could use your old maxes as a starting point or determine your new ones.
The point to this whole thing is progression. It doesn't matter so much what your starting point is, as long as you keep pushing forward.
