Sorry Paul not going to make that one. Maybe if there’s something after the hockey season.

315 for 5 on the CGB is no joke. Do you think you’re going to get heavier on those semi-sumo deads?
Thanks GV. I’ll go heavier but want to pull 495x10 first.

10/29

  1. squats barx10 135x5 225x5 315x3 405x11
  2. goblet squats 60x10,10,15,10,10
  3. front squats 135x5 225x5x5

Have to move up in weight quickly because my back and knee start acting up after a couple sets. I’d love to eventually squat 405x20. The goblet and front squats really push my flexibility.

Yeah. Me too.

Really strong lifting here!

315x10 on CGB…awesome.
oops. It was only 315x5. I fixed that last night but it didn’t take I guess. But thanks for thinking I could do 10 reps.
Only for 5!? Scratch what I said, then…poser. lol
Actually, I fully believe you can do 10. I’m just not sure I could be 5 even with a normal grip.

Well on the upside at least I don’t have to shave my legs!

Ummmm, what? If I’d known it was going to be a powerlifting meet with benefits I may have changed my mind.

That is a serious leg session. Nice work Steve.

Thanks Dave. My legs were a little sore the next day.

11/1

  1. cleans 135x3,3 155x3 175x3 195x1 205x1 215x1 225x1
    2a. MP barx20 95x10 135x5 155x3 175x3 195x3 155x6
    2b. chin-ups BWx5,5 +50x3,3,3 MWx5,5
    3a. cgb 225x3x10
    3b. 1 arm db rows 120x5,6,7
    4a. lateral raise 20’s x30,15
    4b. db curls 30’s x15,8

Wasn’t feeling it tonight and almost skipped the workout. But I went through the motions. Glad I did because I felt much better afterwards.

Do you think doing cleans improves your bench? By the way I don’t know if you saw my answer but I think the football bar may work well for you if you have shoulder soreness. I think that was part of the reason I bought one to give my shoulders a break from regular benching and for the variety. The football bar works the stabilizers for the bench differently and hits the triceps hard.

I have it stuck in my head I should be able to clean at least my own BW. So every so often I get on a stretch that I do cleans.
Thanks for your opinion on the football bar. My shoulders have been aching for a while now so I’m going to eventually get one.

11/3

  1. sldl standing on 3.5’’ block 135x5 185x3 225x3 275x3 315x3 365x5x3
  2. Got outside and carried a 185 lb bb around the yard and up/down my back hill.

The stiff deads felt good. I used hook grip off and on and that felt really good as well. I changed my thumb position up which felt better. The outside work kicked my ass. I’ve slipped back into out of shape weightlifting guy.

11/4

1a. cgb barx20 95x10 135x10 185x10 225x10 275x10 315x8
1b. 135x5,5 185x5 225x5 275x5,5 225x10
2. db curls 3 sets

Went for a 3.5 mile walk right before this workout so I was surprised how strong I was. The weather has been so beautiful here its been hard not to go for long walks.

Last night was a totally failed squat workout. Back and knee were killing me. Back squats are off my list of exercises at least for awhile. Going to use trap bar deadlifts instead.

11/7

  1. trap bar dead high handle 135x5 225x5 295x5 335x5 385x5
  2. powertec squats 1 pps x 10, 2 pps x 10, 3 pps x 10
    3a. powertec calf raise 3 pps x 3 x 10
    3b. sit-ups BWx3x10
    BW exercises
  3. Squatsx50
  4. deficit push-upx22
  5. chin-up x10
  6. sit-ups x10

Trap bar felt good and the BW stuff was a nice way to finish the workout.

Steve , too bad about your back and knee…but smart to train around the issue so someday you can be as strong…umm wait I meant as OLD as me and still play.

Trying to train intelligently so I can train when I’m as ‘seasoned’ as you.

11/8
1.bike 1/2 hour watching the Pats
2a. a bunch of light clean and press (135 and 155)
2b. a bunch of BW exercises (squat, pullup, pushup and variations of each)

11/9

  1. clean+press 135x3,3 155x3,3 175x3,3
    2a. semi-sumo deads 135x2 225x3 315x2 405x2 495x0 (hamstrings said not today)
    2b. cgb 135x10 185x10 225x10 275x10 315x5
    3a. pull-ups BWx6,4,5
    3b. t-handle swings 100x3x10
  2. db curls 40’sxfailure

11/10
bike 10 minutes
several complexes 2x (dead,rdl,bb row,hang clean,front squat into press,back squat,GM),1x (db clean and press,pullups)

11/11
5-6 sec concentric and 5-6 sec eccentric every set

  1. powertec squat 3 pps x 6
  2. dips BW+25x2,BWx2,BWx2
  3. chin-ups BWx1 3/4, BWx1, BWx1

complex-dead,rdl,bb rows,hang clean,front squat into press,back squat,GM 95x 6 reps each, 5 reps each, 4 reps each

Mixing things up. The slow training was joint friendly.

That’s a lot of seasoning
