New Hampshire Lifter II

Kevin, good to read you’re doing well. Glad you’re working around the creaks.

  1. deadlift 135x3 225x3 275x3 315x3 365x3 415x1 465x1
    2a. MP 55x10 105x10 145x3 165x3 185x3 205x1 145x15
    2b. neutral grip chins BWx3 +25x3 +50x3 +70x1 BWx5,5
  2. t-handle swings 125x3x10
    1.5 mile walk

I’ve been wanting to try heavier t-handle swings. The most I can load right now is 125. I need to buy a longer pipe.

3/7

  1. a bunch of stone lifts - single and doubles to chest height
  2. squats barx5 135x5 225x5 275x5 315x5 365x5
  3. abs 2 sets

If any of you have 45 minutes to spare you’ve got to check out this documentary on stone lifting in Scotland. The main guy, Bill Crawford, is local and is head of the NH highland games. I watched it a couple weeks ago and have been lifting stones like every other day since.

Vid please and don’t forget the kilt.

Been away. Have you or are you thinking of getting into the HGs or strongman?

Mini, I’ll get a video if I wear a kilt.
Harry, I’m thinking of trying the stone carry at the NH highland games this year. Contestants carry stones similar to the Dinnie Stones but these only weigh 270 lbs and 238 lbs. That’s not me in the picture. I don’t have tattoos otherwise we could be twins.

1a. MP 55x10 105x5 145x5 165x5 185x5 205x3 225x1
1b. Neutral grip chins after every MP set
2a. 2 board bench 135x5 225x5 275x5 315x7 225x10
2b. Neutral grip chins after every bench set

I used the squat bar for MP. It’s a bit fatter and I like the feel of it. I have minimal shoulder discomfort with the 2 board press. Winning all over the place.

3/11

  1. 2’’ elevated deadlifts 135x5x5 225x5 315x5 365x5 405x1 315x5 sets
  2. stone lifts x several

Nothing big. I’ve put the belt up for a month or so. So everything has been 100% raw.

Thought I recognized you…
Hope you get the opportunity to hit some competitions, be it in whatever you chose. Of the people I’ve been following on here I think you have the most potential to lift some really heavy stuff.

Thanks Harry. I wish I’d thrown in high school. I’d like to try some of the stone throws.

3/14

1.10 stone lifts - singles and doubles
2. squats with squat bar 55x10 145x5 235x5 285x5 325x5 375x5
3a. 2 board press barx20 95x5 135x5 185x5 225x5 275x5 315x3
3b. chin-ups 7 sets with BW x 5 and 6 reps

Because of the blizzard I got out of work at noon. Cooked, cleaned and played pool with my boys. Good afternoon. But all the weights felt heavy tonight.

Yesterday my oldest son overhand deadlifted 455. Not hook or mixed grip. The little son of a gun overhanded it. Then he smooth pulled 500 with a mixed grip. The most I’ve ever overhanded is 420 and that was on a good day. WTF

Wow. 500s one of those points in the dl kinda like the first 315 in the bench. Says, “yeah. I’m strong”.
Ever need any advice on throwing, I’m here. Remember, always keep the elbow up!

Harry, when the nice weather finally gets to the north east I may be hitting you up with some throwing questions. Thanks

  1. 10 stone lifts x 1-3 reps
  2. trap bar deads 135x5 225x5 315x5 405x5
  3. hang cleans 135x5x5
  4. MP 135x10 155x10 175x3 195x1 215x1 155x12

I haven’t done hang cleans for awhile so I kept it light. My traps will hopefully ache tomorrow. I can’t wait until the foot of snow melts in my yard so I can lift some different stones and flip some tires.

You have snow? lucky bastid!! we have ice !! That alien life form kind of ice that sticks around until about mid April.

I’m waiting for it to recede so I can start sprints…

Hope you and yours are well.

Paul, some 40 and 50 degree days in the forecast so spring may actually really start tomorrow. I love my basement gym but I can’t wait to get outside.

My youngest isn’t in to lifting but I got him to do some benching and jumps.

Really happy with the way the stone lifts are feeling. Another week or so I should be able to get outside to start working with some heavier stones.

Feeling good this morning. A large coffee and low carb energy drink after a good nights sleep works wonders.

yes sleep and some solid caffeine are amazing

next - if your boy is casually pulling 4and change dbl overhand
Im sure he can go for 500- or more soon.
bastid.

training looks good- envious of your implements.

What’s up Kevin? My son is looking to pull 525 at his meet on April 8. He pulled 500 easy the day he overhanded 455. I’m just getting out of the way so I don’t get hurt.

1a. MP 55x2x15-20 105x5 125x3 145x3 165x3 185x3 205x3 225x3
1b. chin-ups/pull-ups BWx4 sets, +25x4 sets, +50x1 set (all sets 3-5 reps)
2a. bowflex chest fly/press x 5 sets
2b. stone row+sldl x 5 sets
3a. pushdowns 120x20
3b. db curls 40’s x15

I wanted to do something with stones. So I rowed it then stood up with it. Kind of an interesting exercise.

Have you thought about making yourself any of the round stones like they use in strong man? 225x3 mp is strong.

I have thought of doing that Harry. I’ve watched videos of making them and with a mold it doesn’t look that difficult.

A bit of a late one tonight but I had a bunch of chores to do after work today.
