Who exactly did you buy the bar for ?

No kidding Paul. I use all his toys. Deadlift bar, benchdaddy, squat barā€¦I just hope he asks for a yoke soon.

I was benching this weekend just to see how my shoulder was feeling. Using the benchdaddy I wasnā€™t in too much pain so I kept loading the weight on up to 325 lbs. I thought it would be cool to use the new squat bar to bench with because itā€™s big and cool. But not having benched for a month, using the fatter bar and the benchdaddy somehow 325 slipped out of my hands and landed on my lower ribs. The bar then tilted to the right sliding all the plates off on that side then banged down to the left. Funny it didnā€™t hurt at all. I just rolled out and pick up then called it a day.

I hold the bar in the rack with one hand for balance and hold a db in the other. Works really well for the balance challenged.

Oof Dec was rough for some of us, eh? Itā€™s like life has this big giant invisible but corporeal hand that likes to swat us down.

And then sometimes itā€™s like it has a fluffy cloud to watch over us and lift us up, glad you didnā€™t get hurt.

Minimaltechno, I need to get used to middle age person training. Stop whining and do things that don;t hurt.

Get back on the horse as soon as possible right? I pulled the benchdaddy out tonight for another go. But used a regular bar.

1b. seated 1 arm cable rows x many sets
2a. 1 arm upright cable rows x 3 sets
2b. 1 arm db shld press 50x3x10

Paul, I use a broad sword and a mace in my training now. Game of thrones stuff. Another few weeks and Iā€™ll hopefully be back at it. Kainen says hi. Heā€™s really looking forward to the meet in April.
Mininal, I should video myself doing some of this stuff. I would be in the ā€˜epic failā€™ category. Especially the single leg sldl.

My quads already ache from the split squats. Iā€™m not sure if its from the front leg squatting or the back leg stretching. I imagine once I can balance and get some weight on my back these could work well.

I tried the Chad Waterbury warm-up tonight: 1 min jump rope, 10 sec jumps, hang for 15 sec. I think the 1 minute jump rope was the hardest part of my entire workout. My hamstrings were a bit achy from all the swings last night.

Went for a walk today with my oldest son today. He talked about powerlifting the entire time. 9 weeks until his meet in April.
I think Iā€™m going to like the texas squat bar. Itā€™s fat, long and has knurling in the center so it doesnā€™t slide.

sigh.

I need some better smart people training too.
single leg work is super humbling

bss or rear elevated spit squat- one of my all time favorite things
and they suck.

Sup Kevin? Humbling is putting it nicely. More like embarrassing.
