T Nation

New Conan

Edit: This is the new Conan. Name is Jason Momoa

I know original will never be done justice in a reboot. It also seems to me that the way that main characters are portrayed physically nowadays is gone compared to the older, classic movies like in Arnolds’ time. The fellow commandos and the enemies were all huge.

To me it made the elements in the big screen more fictitious in some sense (not the mass of the actors), and the antics of the main characters more funny (Let off some steam Bennett!).

This is Conan.

There’s a Conan comic by Marvel, one of their “What If?” stories where Conan is a pimp in the 20th century.

EPIC POST, NARDS

whose pick is that earthquake? the guy they got lined up for CONAN?!?!

Jason Momoa, the new Conan.

He needs to gain at least 30 lbs of muscle.

Yea thats who they are using caveman.

They were going to use this guy from new terminator. Not sure what happened…

Soccer Moms happened…the same ones who are screaming along with their 14 year old daughters during Twilight movies. They are the reason Jude Law gets seen so much in movies. One of the meanest, strongest, most blood thirsty characters from fiction since his creation in 1932 and we are choosing guys who look “cute in short shorts”.

This is why the last Superman movie SUCKED KRYPTONIAN ASS. Chris Reeves might not be huge by today’s standards, but he was considered pretty filled out for 1978 which is when that movie was made. By today’s standards, they would need someone built like an NPC light heavy-heavyweight at least to cause the same reaction.

I’m not sure I agree. There’s definitely a few other more significant aspects that factored in a lot more heavily on Superman sucking ass.

i guess maybe the rest of the world just doesn’t care about how much muscle someone has as the people on this website…

on the otherhand this is conan we are talking about, I’m not sure if I’d be happy even if Ronnie Coleman was playing him.

The twilight generation has a lot to answer for.

Dude, certain characters NEED to be jacked…like Superman or Conan. I feel that Hollywood is doing a disservice to the characters themselves with this bullshit.

Spiderman can get away with being smaller. They fucked up that character for far greater reasons then his muscle mass.

Batman doesn’t have to be huge, but Bale did a great job in the first movie as far as bulking that character up.

I dealt with a smaller Wolverine simply because the guy playing him actually does a decent job…but I still cringe every time this guy does a pose that is supposed to make him look like a bad ass yet it only shows how small he really is even if he is in shape and lean.

Conan is nothing but muscle and a sword. I am not sure how the hell they feel alright with making him an Abercrombie model.

I will be greatly shocked if they actually bulk that actor up enough to make him look like he should be taking heads off of armies.

The new Bond is bigger than the old Bond… it happens occasionally.

That first post isn’t really a guy that’s going to play Conan in a remake, is it?

Oh, the whole script was weak as hell and they fucked over Luthor to the point that it was like the last 30 years in comics and tv shows never happened. Lex is a genius and he is actually portrayed like one in all other media…yet they still made the same bumbling jackass who wants “land” from the 70’s.

However, the icing on the cake was the Metrosexual fucker they got to play him. That isn’t how Superman acts in any other media yet they made him a fool as Clark here and some kind of flashy brightly colored wannabe Jesus as Superman.

They should use this guy.

Is it just me or is that picture in the OP hideously airbrushed to make his abs/chest look like they exist. His pecs literally look painted on. That’s fucked up.

Ah Jesus Christ!

Conan must/has to be a beast, he’s a bloody axe wielding barbarian for fucksake! Jugding by Jason Momoas photo he’d be better suited as Conans wiry sidekick. I hope he does the role justice and eats something but since hollywood is pandering to the needs of teenie bopper chicks and frustrated mothers I fear the curse of Twilight is here to stay…

If he sparkles I’ll shoot myself!

An impressive fanfilm which is an ‘exact’ representation of the graphic novel ‘Slaine’, which is in the same vein as the Conan comics.

Movies should stay true to the original concepts that made them great to begin with!

It’s a real shame’ cuz they are likely to ass fuck Conan just like they did with vampires and werewolves in the Twilight movies.

Makes me wonder what they’ll ruin next? I really hope I’m wrong!

In related news,Rose McGowan is out as Red Sonja. Rumor has it that Megan Fox has been offered to take her place.

The more I look at this twink, the more I think they’re going to just use CGI to make him muscular. Conan HAS to be jacked. There is no way around it. Simply “having a little muscle” will completely ruin the character.

Andrew Bryniarski (Lattimer from The Program) is the only actor that I can think of who could realistically portray Conan, physique wise. But it would probably take him a year to get back into shape for it. Much easier to just use CGI on a skinny guy.
