New and Back After Lay Off

#1

Hey people

Due to job change and admittedly general laziness I need to get back to what makes me most happy. I am become weak destroyer of worlds. My previous job was straight afternoon shift 6 days a week in a shithole on a furnace line making truck suspension parts. Caveman work to say the least but it kept you in shape.

Now I work in a warehouse and work straight days. Working aft. was perfect for training but bad for family. Having said that I have no experiance Training at night. I get home at 5. I am 42, Ecto. I train at home due to budjet resraints.

Compound movements are what I live on because of limited space and thats all you need anyway. Should I train when I get home? Should I wait until after supper? Is It hard to get to sleep at night? All these questions may seem trivial to someone who has never had to work shift work in a brutal environment but if you have you know what I mean. Any advice or sugestions would be greatly appreciated.

  Thanks Mike...Go Steelers!

Congrats on getting back to it !

I'm 42 and train at home also. I train at home
due to schedule constraints and that I like to
lift alone.

My schedule on lifting days looks like this:

5:30 - get home from work
5:30-6:30 - play with kids and eat dinner
6:30-7:30 - play with kids
7:30-9:00 - Lift
9:00-9:30 - Protein shake, put kids to bed
9:30-11:00 - Relax / Shower
11:00 - SLEEP

Really heavy dinners slow me down during workout
so, I try to go light with dinner. A heavy dinner
also seems to affect my sleep more than the workout.

Good luck and keep us posted !
