New Adidas AdiStars

Anyone seen the new weightlifting shoe design from adidas? Its what all the cool kids will be wearing in Beijing. A little overpriced but still pretty sweet.

They’re sexy as hell.

The new Nikes however are pig ugly.

Yeah. I have mixed feelings about the new Nikes. They look so-so, but im more concerned about the plastic heel. I would have to see and feel a pair of them in person to make a decision.

Kirsten Yukness off Elite got send a pair that look MUCH worse than that http://asp.elitefts.com/qa/training-logs.asp?qid=73843&tid=149

I think they shoulda stuck with the colours they used in the ones they gave to the Chinese national team over the last few years.

The Nikes look better in white but I still want a pair.

Looks like those are the ones made for the USA team. No idea what the actual production colours will end up being (you know what Nike are like for shoe colours…). Koing has a sample pair in white with a clear heel.

They do look much worse in that pic. Interesting write up by Kristen, but I don’t think adidas has anything to worry about. Hopefully the Nike shoe will generate some price competition.

I have the opposite view- I think the adidas look like some sort of tap dance shoe but the Nike’s are futuristic and sweet.

I may eventually move to Nike’s since they have the higher heel which I could benefit from based on my flexibility.

The way I understand it the Nike Romaleos are being custom made for three weightlifting teams…also Romaleo is Greek for “strength”:

Team USA- Will wear the Obsidian version that someone posted above, black with a gross green color.

Team Ukraine- “The Ukrainian version of the Romaleos has a Royal Blue upper with a Yellow Zest heel wedge and Swoosh.”

Team China- “Chinese weightlifters will have an exclusive version of the Nike Romaleos in a special anodized colorway that shifts between Metallic Gold and Comet Red when light hits it from different angles. It also has a Metallic Gold Swoosh and heel wedge and China written on the strap.”

So I don’t know which teams will be wearing the new Adistar, alot of still wear Dowin’s which are great shoes…just bought a new pair.

Here’s another version of the new Adistar…

Another…

Last…

Dowin’s that can be bought for ~$80 at Quest Nutrition in the States…

The German lifters were wearing the Adidas at the Euros.

Julia Rohde is wearing them in this clip. I think they need to be seen in action to be appreciated. The shoes that is, not Julia Rohde and Maria de la Puente. I’m purely interested in the shoes.

shoe porn. i love it!

08’ Dowins which I’m sure we’ll see at the Olympics…

Another color scheme…

They should’ve made it into one heel (spelling?, I’m dutch), not two separate heels. Now it looks like a nice shoe with two plateaus attached. My favorite is still the adidas equipment shoe, I really would like to purchase the silver one in the future.

Agreed - the Adidas Equipment shoe is the nicest shoe they’ve ever made. If you have giant feet there are still a few places stocking them.

I’m in the market for some squat shoes, are the Dowins good quality?

Its hard to tell from the video, but it looks like she’s wearing an older adidas model which had the folded tongue (which the new ones don’t have). I believe they’re these:
