Nerve Damage After Electrical Injury - to Lift or Not to Lift?

Hey everyone,
So a couple months back I got injured at work from an electrical shock that caused some nerve damage to my left arm. I have lost about 50% strength but my doctor thinks I will make a really good recovery in the next few months.

He has told me not to lift over 25 pounds. I have obviously been sticking to his advice and not lifting at all in my upper body and instead doing leg workouts.

However, it seems like it’s nearly impossible to avoid lifting anything over 25 pounds even accidentally. My dog for example weighs well over 25 pounds cause she’s a fatass.

Has anybody else had experience with this? should I avoid lifting anything like the plague and just let the arm heal? I had heard some people saying that lifting is actually good for nerve regeneration
