Need Some Supplemental + Nutrition Help

Im 17, training for my last year of hs football. I was thinking of doing a sort of cut for a few weeks to a month, because i have a decent amount of flab laying around that i would rather not be there. Im 6’2", 214 with 15.7% bf. It just doesnt look like that really. I have decent amounts of fat that i would like to rid myself of.

Ive been doing a routine of 3 days per week, 5x5 for my workouts. Im now using a modified westside, with themes taken from joe defrancos “westside for skinny bastards”

What kind of supps should i take? What kind of food should i eat? and what kind of cardio should i do?

I would like to lose 10-15 pounds of flab, trying to keep as much strength as possible.

Thanks

BigDirk, please don’t fall into the trap of looking for the magic pill. There isn’t any!

The resistance training you’re doing sounds good. As far as cardio goes, read up on HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), and add in a few (2 or 3) sessions per week. It’s short and not-so-sweet, but it is very effective at burning fat. Just so you know, more is not better.

From there, look at T-Dawg 2.0. That will put some structure in your diet and make sure you’re eating enough protein and paying attention to PWO nutrition. Surge and protein powder is about the only thing I’d recommend for you currently.

So focus on eating every 3 or 4 hours. Get protein every meal. Make sure you dial in your PWO nutriton. Stop eating garbage carbs and switch over to green veggie carbs. If energy levels start to suffer, let us know. The amount of carbs you’re eating can be adjusted upwards if that ends up being the case.

And in the meantime, while you’re implementing the changes I recommended, read, read, read.

If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask! (grin)

Totally agree with TT as usual here.

Mainly on the nailing a solid diet. This will be your biggest weapon. <a href="http://www.t-mag.com/nation_articles/243tdawg.jsp"target=“new”>TDawg 2 type of diet should be great for you, only I imagine more carbs will be a good idea with your training for FB and goals in mind. Maybe more of the <a href="http://t-forums.t-mag.com/t-forums_frames.html"target=“new”>Dont Diet Diet type of plan. Start by reading and nailing the issues laid out by JB in his <a href="http://www.t-mag.com/nation_articles/291seven.jsp"target=“new”>7 Habits article, then continue your diet education with any and all articles by himself and LL.

The HIIT will not only be great @ burning some of the fat but also help with your speed and short burts endurance need for your sport. Double payback.

Anymore help come on back.

By the way incase you didnt know, the blue words are not only pretty but are also links to the articles. lol

Hope this helps,
Phill
