Need More Protein?

hey guys,
just wanted to ask u that if u could let me know that whether i need extra protein intake via shakes and supplements and such…my routine follows a:

Regular high cardio workout including resistance training 5 days a week…i weigh 153lbs and am 5’9…just beginner though…male,18.
Thanks

“More” is usually used as a comparative word. For example, 6 is “more” than 5.

Should your protein intake be more than what?

nice thought…

more than the regular stuff im eating i guess…lets say for e.g. i consume bout 50gm protien a day…is it necessary for me to consume a gram per pound of my weight considering the routine i follow?
and should i use the help of supp to acheive that?
thank u

Yes more then 50 thats one simple meal a small steak. The 1g per lb is a good minimum to shoot for

I’d say you should consume at least 1g of protein per gram of bodyweight regardless of your routine.

153g are easily attainable with whole foods, though. Save the shakes for the peri-workout period and when you don’t have access to protein sources like meat, eggs and fish.

Most people will say you need a gram per lb of bw, per day.

I think that for most people, 2/3 g/lb is usually enough. If you’re hungrier from your training, eat more. Make protein the centerpiece of your meal. Even 6 oz of chicken has 30g of protein.

At your weight, 100+ grams would be a good target to start with. Bump it up if you’re not gaining.

I think a major mistake that a lot of people make is only worrying about eating enough protein, then they go light on the fat. The caloric density of fats is important when trying to put on some muscle.

Aim to eat at least 1.25 lbs of meat per day. Eggs are good too, 5 eggs = 30g.

Good luck and don’t overdo the cardio…do some HIIT, look it up.

Whoops.

No, you don’t need a supplement unless you can’t eat that “much” for some reason.

Whole foods always win.

That might be a tad too much

I eat and train like an ANIMAL.

But yes, I believe for starters, 1g per pound of bodyweight will suffice.

I agree that it’s enough, but is it optimal? Anyway, good call regarding fat intake.
