Need Help with the Math of Daily Protein Intake

I see people even Arnold in his prime say he would take in 250 grams of protein per day. This included only 2 protein shakes. My protein powder has 22 grams of protein, that would be only 44 grams of day. How would you get 206 grams of protein from food? A chicken breast usually has about what 20-25 grams? It seems like you would be eating all day long and still wouldn’t get there.

I weigh about 212 how many grams of protein should I take in per day?

To get 250g of protein in you end up eating a lot.

The RDI is something like .4g per pound but most people who lift eat more. Set a baseline, like .8g per pound, see if you’re recovering and go from there.

His might have been different. Mine has 30g. per 2 scoop serving, Then I mix it at 1 scoop per 4 oz liquid, using 12 oz. liquid for 45 grams per shake.

A shake is not a standardized unit of measurement.

A gallon of milk has about 130g. If whole milk is too many calories for the rest of your nutritional plan then using 2% or nonfat might be reasonable.

I would bet the farm Arnold didn’t just use one scoop per shake. And just a 3oz serving of chicken breast, cooked, has around 25 grams of protein and any 3oz serving of meat has at least 21 grams. I don’t know about you but I usually eat a minimum of 6-8 oz when I have meat.

You’re talking serving sizes vs. meals. Double/ triple your serving size

Today I’ll be eating 600g chicken boobs and a double scoop protein shake in semi skimmed milk. Gets me to over 250g protein easily without even counting protein from any other source. 250g isn’t crazy high, albeit more than I normally eat.

I can hit 200g + on 1800kcal a day, without shakes. Dearie me, it’s easy. Where do you live? North Korea?

I think maybe it’s a math fail on my part now (not surprising) I didn’t realize it only took 3 oz of chicken breast for 25 grams.

I can do it in one single sitting. Beat that! :scream:
