My Wake-Up Call

hello there, panda’s the name,Im a 37 years old and this morning before going to work my wife told me that i looked big…meaning fat.

I used to be pretty fit, teaching spin at my gym, but 3 months ago i was made redundant, and my gym will be now a casino.

we qre expecting our first baby, my wife is 5 months pregnant after 3 years trying.

Losing my job and not been able to find one somehow i loose my motivation to do exercise.

I got a new one now and this morning after my wifes comment i took an BMI test, the results were shocking now i got a 27% of fat and a 32 BMI… Im fat, thats a reality but you know what? Im want to be able to play with my baby (its a baby boy) and i want to feel better, so i though on posting my start stats so this way theres no xcuse and in 3 months time i could post again and see if theres any change, dont take me wrong i want no pity, I just though on posting so now i have to do it, for me.

So some stats and i wont be bothering you for the next 3 months:

102 kg
177 mts
37 years old
(yes i know im chubby)
27% body fat

been doing weights for 6 months before stoping due to not having a job. (I got one now).
so it will be fat to fire by DJ.
see you in 3… panda

Once upon a time I was underemployed and that is when I started seriously going to the gym.

When the trial of underemployement was over, I had the bonus of improved health, fitness and a new job.

I’m not sure I would have made it if I didn’t have something positive going on during that time.

Congrats on the baby, and with making the right decision about your health!

You made the first and most important step. You know something must change. Good, now just keep at it and learn as much as you can.

Good to see that you are motivated to succeed. I wish you the best. I got off track for a couple of months recently, but I just got going again. It is sometimes tough at first, but you have the right attitude.

BTW, I am reading John Berardi’s new book, The Metabolism Advantage. I have his Precision Nutrition info., but the book is a much cheaper way to get a lot of the same information. You can pick it up from Amazon.com for under $20 US. It will be a huge help in taking off the fat and just eating healthier in general. I would also suggest following a Chad Waterbury exercise plan rather than the one in the book. He has some great full body stuff that is really good for someone with limited time to spend in the gym. Best of luck!

How true!! Life can definitely have it’s up’s and down’s. Training seems to help a person maintain a positive outlook.

Thanks man, been reading lots of JD,CH W, DON A, CH T…an so on, will get that book, at the moment will start with fat to fire by JD.
will everybody know how things are going.

Hey Bro,

Good luck with everything.

Baby, Job and Wife - you have alot to live for!!!

I’ll second the recommendation for John Berardi’s nutritional advice. If you’re not careful about your nutrition, too much of your weight loss will be lean body mass. You want to lose fat, not simply lose weight and what you eat and when you eat makes a real difference.

Here’s a good place to start:

Good luck!

Congrats on the baby… Look forward to seeing your progress
