My New Office

Photo 21: Fully assembled, the gantry is dragged into its final position by the lorry arm. Next comes the job of removing all of the bubble wrap

Photo 22: The morning after the night before.

Photo 23: That night, our Director of Performance checks out his new toy for the first time since we drew a pencil sketch of it in my dining room.

This is done in the most British of ways - by sitting on it and having a cup of tea

Photo 24: A close up of one side of the gantry - which we designed to enable all variations of chin-ups and pull-ups.

One of the long bars is a fat bar - allowing fat bar chin-ups which is an exercise to be hated and adored in equal measure. >:-)

There are eye hooks along the top edge of the frame allowing us to attach ropes, olympic rings, etc…

Photo 25: With the railings up, the gantry in place and the track batons largely finished - things are starting to take shape…

Why is this being posted in the Strength Sports forum? Am I missing something?

Photo 26: The specialist plywood for the track surface arrives early one morning.

Photo 27: The plywood starts to be installed. The black stuff is a damp proof membrane.

Photo 28: Pretty soon the track sub-surface is ready. This was oustanding work by the construction guys to get it all level as the sub-floor was, shall we say, “agricultural”. The use of levelling compounds was not possible, and he levelled it all by hand.

Photo 29: 14 of our family and friends are draughted in on a sunny Sunday afternoon to help to give the place a damn good clean, hoover, dust and tidy.

The track adhesives require a dust-free environment - not easy in our situation!

Photo 30: …meanwhile, the treatment room walls are being erected.

Photo 31: …and plastered.

Photo 32: The track surface arrives and is laid out to relax.

Photo 33: The track surface is laid. This is a proper indoor athletics material and can be run on in spikes. (and probably whilst on Spike, too

Well, these are not physique or performance photos per se, but related to sports training. That’s my guess.

Either way, I am enjoying the unfolding. Can’t wait to see the finished product.

Photo 34: This is the bit we’ve all been waiting for - lorries arrive with toys!

Photo 35: This was an interesting moment: On one hand, all of the toys have arrived - Good.

However - this is 7pm on Friday. At 7:30 am Monday, the track is being lane marked; this means laying the weights area flooring, installing the kit and cleaning the track off in two days - on my own. Bad

Photo 36: The flooring laid and the kit installed.

Photo 37: Another shot of the weights kit installed.

Photo 38: The track has been lane marked and things are coming together now.
