Multi-Directional Speed Training?

Just wondering if anyone can describe, or provide a link to, some good drills for increasing multi-directional speed that does not require ladders. I am training for rugby. My linear speed and acceleration are adequate, but any drills for improving these parameters are also welcome.

Coach use to hav us chase damn chickens all around the barn. That will get ya to go in many & all dierections.

Put some cones (8?9) in a circle, say 5m wide. Put a couple in the middle as well. Move from cone to cone in a random fashion, changing direction, for bursts of 30 sec. You can make the shape irregular or bigger if you want

Some need a ladder, some just need cones, but there are some good ones here.
