Just so I stay "consistent".
This is deload week. Intended to train squat. So I take off the monkey suit and put on gym clothes. I was running late due to work but was committed to getting to gym. So I drank half a Spike shooter, head out. Then I got an emergency call and had to drive across town and deal with a crisis. That ran me very late so I didn't get to the gym. I don't freak out about this anymore, ya' miss one, ya' miss one. So day one of deload week was really a complete day off. I'll get to the gym tomorrow. The thing that stinks is wasted Spike and subsequent energy.

Ok just to be "consistent":
The world's most thrilling workout-about 6 miles of easy walking. That's all. Good for my heart I guess.

Warmups- stretching and stuff

Bench Press
bar-bunch
135 2 or 3 sets of 10 or so
185x5
225x5
235x5
245x3 (this was supposed ot be bench deload, but felt good so went a little heavier)

Military Press
barx10
115x5
135x5
145x5 (stopped there, deloading you know...)

Dips 4 sets of 8 bodyweight

Chins 4 sets of 8 bodyweight

Bent over BB Rows 1 set at 135x8, 3 sets at 155x8

Hammer curls- 30x8x3

Tricep presses- 40x8x3

Hanging leg raises- 4x12

Neck harness- 4 sets 12 reps 25lbs

KettleBell swings- a full 8 round Tababta (times were sorta loose- maybe 30 sec with 10-20 sec rest...

I have grand ambitions of flipping my old tire and swinging the sledge hammer some later. We'll see what happens... In Biblical literature they often wrote of a future event in the past tense as if it had already occurred. Therefore, I reword this to say-I did three sets of 6 tire flips and four rounds of 30 hammer swings...and it felt good. I'll post if the prophecy proves false.

Today's Training: I'm planning on doing a meet April 30th.

Trying to decide about weight division. Last meet I weighed in with clothes and was just 192. That put me with the 198's but managed to win (so I only beat one other guy, but a win is win). Today I weighed 195 without clothes. So I'm a long way out from the meet so I could stay the same and compete 198. I could very easily drop 17 and go in at 181 as my natural weight is about 180. Or I could chunk on up to over 200 and lift with the 220's. Weird I guess but I'm trying to make a decision. Any advice would be appreciated.

Warm-ups- just some jumping around and stretching foolishness. Get's the job done.

Squat on very low box, worked on sitting way back and pushing out my knees:
bar 2x10
135 2x10
185x5
225x5
275x3
315x3
335x3
355x3

GHR 4x10xBW

Pullups

6xBW
6xBW
3x25
3x45

Standing Dbell Press

3x40
3x50
3x60
3x65

Overhead Squat

3 sets of 3 reps with the bar-just for fun

Some curls four sets of five with a straight bar (both bicep tendons are sore, thought this might do some good. I'll see after dark I guess) 60, 70, 85

Standing abs- 4x10 90lbs

Neck Harness 4x12x25

Jump Rope- 5 one minute rounds as hard as I could go.

I'd wager if you can squat 355 x 3 off a very low box, you are good for much more than 370.

#14

Thanks for reading the log Farmer Brett. I'm shooting for 400 by april 30th-we'll see. Still get a bit nervous with all the abdominal pressure squatting and deadlifting. Just a mental thing-I'll get through it.

#15

I guess I would pick the weight where my strength-to-weight ratio was the best. The best Wilks number, in other words. Do you lose strength when you lose weight? If not, then it's a no-brainer, especially if dropping 17 lb. is very easy for you.

Tell me about your meet. What fed do you lift with? What numbers are you looking at? That's only seven weeks out, eh?

#16

Ksnap

I don't lose a lot of strength when I drop a few pounds. I got down to about 175 back in the summer while recovering from surgery and didn't seem to lose a whole lot when I got back to heavy training. My??? federation is NASA which seems to be the only one out here in my part of the desert. This is only my second meet so still thinking about goals. Would like to total 1200, I'm not terribl worried about it, just do this for fun. Thanks for the interest.

What numbers are you looking to post at your meet for each lift?

I've been considering doing a NASA meet. It's the only other fed that's active in my area.
