Most Underrated Bodybuilder?

Thierry Pastel

Jeff King. Dude was awesome in the era of Lee Haney.

Ha! I was going to put him up. But, he was touted to be the next Olympia winner, once he won the Nationals… so, I didn’t think he was underrated.

He got beat by Gary Strydom, ran into some health problems and couldn’t get conditioned enough to compete again… I was a big fan of his.

I was too. To me, he had all the qualities of an Olympian at the time, and was “the new Arnold”.

I’m not a fan of BBing, really, but that guy has a fucking neck.

he likes the view.

zing. Jk

he’s still a rising star, but this guy is insane for his age(23), and extremely well proportioned

I don’t think everyone knows what underrated means.

I’m waiting for someone to say Alexei Lesukov

I like making fun of the guys that like the view. Zing!

Oh, wait…dammit.

^ Good point.

Anyway my vote goes to Ronnie Coleman. He just doesn’t get the credit he deserves…

JD Dawodu again.

This was one of those I used to look up to.

He could have held his own with many of the greats of the past…but he came up when guys like Shawn Ray and Haney were taking the spotlight.

His face/name don’t ring a bell to me (maybe he’s underrated…).

I did a quick lazy search on his stats. Says he’s 5-8". How big you guess his arms are in that pic?

^about 21"
…in contest shape, that’s bad ass.

I’m the first to admit-- I have serious arm envy.

Tris are a touch short tho…

I’m totally nit picking like an asshole, but it is what it is.

Who was the Japanese body builder in the mid 90’s? Probably underrated because of geography.

I remember JD, doesn’t make sense why he didn’t get more attention. He was massive, no weaknesses. He could bury Shawn Ray imo, who got way too much attention imo. Shawn was well proportioned but never grew after a certain point. I think he was simply angry and loud and got a lot of attention for that.

I saw him once at the mosque near my old office. It was his off season. Let’s just say that the picture of him in this thread does not convey just how thick and dense he is. Bloke would’ve made a silverback look scrawny.
