Most Beautiful Song You've Heard?

Just listen to the song in that link, PLEASE. I’ll paypal you money just to listen to it even.

Let me tell you how I first came to love this song. A member of another forum I post on was killed by a drunk driver, and in a memorial thread to him someone posted the lyrics to this song. The beginning caught my eye:

??What a beautiful face / I have found in this place / That is circling all round the sun / What a beautiful dream / That could flash on the screen / In a blink of an eye and be gone from me / Soft and sweet /Let me hold it close and keep it here with me, me

And one day we will die / And our ashes will fly from the aeroplane over the sea / But for now we are young / Let us lay in the sun / And count every beautiful thing we can see / Love to be /In the arms of all I’m keeping here with me, me??

So I download it and listen to it a few times. I think it??s pretty good. Then a couple weeks later I put it back on my playlist as the only song, as I sometimes do when I??m trying to decide if I like it or not. I step into the kitchen of my apartment as the song starts. I hear the opening guitar riff, those first couple verses I just transcribed, and I hit the floor. I think of all the awful things I’ve done in my life. All the awful things that everyone has ever done. All the cruel things, all the evil, and mean, and hurtful things. Then I thought of all the beautiful things. How beautiful life can be, and how beautiful my life was. How much my mother loves me, and how much she just wants me to be good, and how many times have I failed that. How many times I have succeeded. And how all those beautiful things in life could exist in the same life and in the same world as all the bad and evil that has occurred. How no matter what someone does, no matter how bad or how evil, the truly good will always love life and see how beautiful it is, and even forgive those that kill or harm them. How anyone knowing this in their heart could still harm anyone or anything. How anyone that has lived for even a second can do anything to harm anything else that is living. How beautiful life is, every second of it. The good, the bad, any of it. To exist, for even a second. It’s why I can’t support abortion, it’s why I can’t support the death penalty, it’s why I can’t believe that anyone who has lived and looked at life could ever take the life another. It’s why I can’t believe that anyone who really has taken a step back and looked at this life could ever harm another. I never knew how powerful music could be until I heard this song. I was there on my floor, just lying there sobbing, literally sobbing thinking of how I got to where I was. I think now of how even despite this I have still done more wrong in life, and more good, and how life just continues to be the most beautiful thing. There could be eternal heaven, or no afterlife at all and just to have lived for even a moment is still immaculate. I don’t know how anyone could be anything and not be amazed at the perfection of being alive.

I wish Ace didn’t die and I wish someone had posted this song the very same day.

??Despite everything I believe that people are really good at heart??. -Anne Frank

What a beautiful face
I have found in this place
That is circling all round the sun
What a beautiful dream
That could flash on the screen
In a blink of an eye and be gone from me
Soft and sweet
Let me hold it close and keep it here with me, me

And one day we will die
And our ashes will fly from the aeroplane over the sea
But for now we are young
Let us lay in the sun
And count every beautiful thing we can see
Love to be
In the arms of all I’m keeping here with me, me

What a curious life we have found here tonight
There is music that sounds from the street
There are lights in the clouds
Anne’s ghost all around
Hear her voice as it’s rolling and ringing through me
Soft and sweet
How the notes all bend and reach above the trees, trees

Now how I remember you
How I would push my fingers through
Your mouth to make those muscles move
That made your voice so smooth and sweet
Now we keep where we don’t know
All secrets sleep in winters clothes
With one you loved so long ago
Now he don’t even know his name

What a beautiful face
I have found in this place
That is circling all round’ the sun
And when we meet on a cloud
I’ll be laughing out loud
I’ll be laughing with everyone I see
Can’t believe how strange it is to be anything at all, at all

I don’t wanna miss a thing by Aerosmith still owns the first place in my heart but this one is very nice, especially the lyrics thanks for sharing.

yeah, what i like is that Jeff Mangum (the singer) doesn’t have a melodious voice…it makes it more realistic somehow.

Love Song For A Vampire

Come into these arms again
and lay your body down
The rhythm of this trembling heart
is beating like a drum
It beats for you it bleeds for you
it knows not how it sounds
For it is the drum of drums
it is the song of songs

Once I had the rarest rose
that ever deemed to bloom
Cruel winter chilled the bud
and stole my flower too soon
Oh loneliness Oh hopelessness
to search the ends of time
For there is in all the world
no greater love than mine.

Love o love o … still falls the rain
Love o love o … still falls the night
Love o love o … damned forever

Let me be the only one
to keep you from the cold
Now the floor of heaven is laid
the stars are bright as gold
They shine for you they shine for you
they burn for all to see
Come into these arms again
and set this spirit free

True. His tone makes the song ever more credible.

What a beautiful dream
That could flash on the screen
In a blink of an eye and be gone from me

Best part of the lyrics in my opinion.

Anne Frank’s diary was actually a nice book too, read it back in highschool but this makes me want to go through it again.

In Your Eyes - Peter Gabriel

Love I get so lost, sometimes
days pass and this emptiness fills my heart
when I want to run away
I drive off in my car
but whichever way I go
I come back to the place you are

All my instincts, they return
and the grand façade, so soon will burn
without a noise, without my pride
I reach out from the inside

In your eyes
the light the heat
in your eyes
I am complete
in your eyes
I see the doorway to a thousand churches
in your eyes
the resolution of all the fruitless searches
in your eyes
I see the light and the heat
in your eyes
oh, I want to be that complete
I want to touch the light
the heat I see in your eyes

Love, I don’t like to see so much pain
so much wasted and this moment keeps slipping away
I get so tired of working so hard for out survival
I look to the time with you to keep me awake and alive

And all my instincts, they return
and the grand façade, so soon will burn
without a noise, without my pride
I reach out from the inside

In your eyes
the light the heat
in your eyes
I am complete
in your eyes
I see the doorway to a thousand churches
in your eyes
the resolution of all the fruitless searches
in your eyes
I see the light and the heat
in your eyes
oh, I want to be that complete
I want to touch the light,
the heat I see in your eyes
in your eyes in your eyes
in your eyes in your eyes
in your eyes in your eyes

OP, rock on for the Neutral Milk Hotel!

My vote goes for Hallelujah covered by Jeff Buckley or also Jeff Buckley’s “Lover You Should’ve Come Over”

“Lover…” - YouTube

Looking out the door I see the rain fall upon the funeral mourners
Parading in a wake of sad relations as their shoes fill up with water
And maybe Im too young to keep good love from going wrong
But tonight youre on my mind so you never know

When Im broken down and hungry for your love with no way to feed it
Where are you tonight, child you know how much I need it
Too young to hold on and too old to just break free and run

Sometimes a man gets carried away, when he feels like he should be having his fun
And much too blind to see the damage hes done
Sometimes a man must awake to find that really, he has no-one

So Ill wait for you… and Ill burn
Will I ever see your sweet return
Oh will I ever learn

Oh lover, you shouldve come over
cause its not too late

Lonely is the room, the bed is made, the open window lets the rain in
Burning in the corner is the only one who dreams he had you with him
My body turns and yearns for a sleep that will never come

Its never over, my kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder
Its never over, all my riches for her smiles when I slept so soft against her
Its never over, all my blood for the sweetness of her laughter
Its never over, shes the tear that hangs inside my soul forever

Well maybe Im just too young
To keep good love from going wrong

Oh… lover, you shouldve come over
cause its not too late

Well I feel too young to hold on
And Im much too old to break free and run
Too deaf, dumb, and blind to see the damage Ive done
Sweet lover, you shouldve come over
Oh, love well Im waiting for you

Lover, you shouldve come over
cause its not too late

and the best song ever, whose beauty comes from its raw truth

One Gallon Axe, by White Gold is White Gold

It’s the curds in my chords
The whey when I play
I sip every drip as I rip on my…

One gallon axe!
It’s supernatural
One gallon axe!
Milk magical
One gallon axe!
Intergalactical
One gallon axe!
Nail scratchical

I walked to the crossroads, a
Ragged man
Freaky frail hair and
Shakey shakey hands
An angel descended
From up on high
Bestowed to me
A gift from the sky

The whitest guitar
With dairy inside
He tipped back the magical axe and I cried
Milkytastical
Were-wolf might
My muscles rebuilt
My hair turned white

One gallon axe!
Sweet sippical
One gallon axe!
Lush lippical
One gallon axe!
Time traveller
One gallon axe!
Teeth-tacular

You know White Gold
Yeah go ahead ‘n’ ask my something
Where did you get that axe?
From a crazy angel
What you gonna do with it?
Rock the world’s face
What’s inside of it?
Delicious dairy.
How does it feel?
Like liquid lace!

One gallon axe!
It’s supernatural
One gallon axe!
Milk magical
One gallon axe!
Intergalactical
One gallon axe!
Nail scratchical
One gallon axe!
Sweet supercool
One gallon axe!
Lush liprical (?)
One gallon axe!
Time traveller
One gallon axe!
Teeth-tacular
One gallon axe!
Super galactical
One gallon axe!
Milk sipricol

It is ridiculous how much I love the White Gold commercials.

I am a total fan

“Gravedancer”

She’s all that I see
And all that I breathe
Take a breath and hold her in
As her shadow’s whispering
I can hear the laughter
Knowing what they’re after
While she flies beside me
On many broken wings

[Chorus]
Take, take a look around
She’s a pretty good dancer
She dances on my grave
Everytime it goes down
Everytime she comes down
Everytime we fall down
She dances all over me

She’s the world at my feet
The sun that gives heat
Take a rest and hold her near
Or she’ll float away from here
Cause I’m knowing what you fearing
And a sentimental jury
And every mile that guides you
I’ll watch over everything

[Chorus]

And everytime that we feel it
It’s just another long wasted night
And the dance that we tear
Is just another way for you to roll over me
And the bed that we’re sharing
Is the home that I wanna bring you
Want to feel you
I don’t want to hear you

[Chorus]

She dances all over me
She dances all over me
She’s a pretty good dancer
Take, take, take a look around
She’s a pretty good dancer
Everytime she comes down

That’s a good song AccipterQ-

I have many songs I think are beautiful, and somebody mentioned Jeff Buckley…well, he was incredible. Of course his rendition of Hallelujah was untouchable… as most should know by now Leonard Cohen penned the song, and Cohen has more songs than anybody in my list of most beautiful.

I will list Jeff Buckley and Elizabeth Fraser (of the Cocteau Twins) duet of ‘All flowers in time bend toward the sun’ as among the top.

Also, originally penned by Tim Buckley Jeff Buckelys father (and redone by Elizabeth Fraser as well)…‘Song to the Siren’

Gives me goosebumps.

Honorable mentions:

November rain:

Don’t cry:

I get weird looks from my wife, but I could watch them over and over! lol I know when I am in the presence of true genius

The real sad part is, like having two children, I can’t pick which one I love more. It’s unfair to the other…

Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes”

Isley Brothers “Living for the love of you”

Leonard Cohen is great.

Motley Crue’s ‘Rocketship’ always makes me feel good.

fly to the moon
we’ll take my rocketship
it’s outta sight
oh so outta sight
leave your head
check into this time
check your mind
let your sparkle shine

pass the sun
say goodbye to everyone
we’ll fall in love
as we pass the sun
hang from a star
forget just who we are
it’s outta sight
oh so outta sight
from the moon
to the stars
to the sun

Ray Lynch - The Oh Of Pleasure

I’m not one to care about lyrics, I never did really. I like to hear musical patterns over voices.
This though, this I love.

That’s a hard one.

There’s a few since I’m indecisive.

Ascent - Brian Eno

Seconding Don’t wanna miss a thing - Aerosmith

Des’ree - Kissing you

Bibo No Aozora - Ryuichi Sakamoto

Ascent and Bibo No Aozora are amazing to listen to when you’re thinking about stuff. Give them a listen.

Anthem- Leonard Cohen

The birds they sang
at the break of day
Start again
I heard them say
Don’t dwell on what
has passed away
or what is yet to be.
Ah the wars they will
be fought again
The holy dove
She will be caught again
bought and sold
and bought again
the dove is never free.

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in.

We asked for signs
the signs were sent:
the birth betrayed
the marriage spent
Yeah the widowhood
of every government –
signs for all to see.

I can’t run no more
with that lawless crowd
while the killers in high places
say their prayers out loud.
But they’ve summoned, they’ve summoned up
a thundercloud
and they’re going to hear from me.

Ring the bells that still can ring …

You can add up the parts
but you won’t have the sum
You can strike up the march,
there is no drum
Every heart, every heart
to love will come
but like a refugee.

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in.

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in.
That’s how the light gets in.
That’s how the light gets in.

If It Be Your Will- Leonard Cohen

If it be your will
That I speak no more
And my voice be still
As it was before
I will speak no more
I shall abide until
I am spoken for
If it be your will
If it be your will
That a voice be true
From this broken hill
I will sing to you
From this broken hill
All your praises they shall ring
If it be your will
To let me sing
From this broken hill
All your praises they shall ring
If it be your will
To let me sing

If it be your will
If there is a choice
Let the rivers fill
Let the hills rejoice
Let your mercy spill
On all these burning hearts in hell
If it be your will
To make us well

And draw us near
And bind us tight
All your children here
In their rags of light
In our rags of light
All dressed to kill
And end this night
If it be your will

If it be your will.
