Three weeks ago, I was at the crap commercial gym I frequent. Usually the place is filled with young guys in small groups doing their usual bench presses and back slaps.
Then out of nowhere this old guy comes in (probably around 60). He's thick, but nowhere near BB proportioned. He sits on an unused bench, slowly and carefully wraps his knees, then goes to the squat rack, puts 135 on the bar and squats a dozen slow full reps. Then he goes back to the bench, sits down and slowly unwraps his knees.
I discreetly watched him repeat this deliberate sequence over several sets - each time placing another 45 plate on each side, each time cranking out slow full reps, each time wrapping and unwrapping his knees... until he had 5 plates on each side - and he squatted that 8 full reps! I was floored. He then proceeded the whole thing in reverse. I almost cried from just having the privilege of seeing this.
