They are totalitarian thugs who dress up in masks and use clubs and rocks to shut down free speech and intimidate or beat anyone that isn’t one of them (which they distinguish largely by race, sex and social status, without regard for personal merit). Talking about whether them or the neo-nazis are worse is a lot like deciding whether you’d like to hang or get guillotined. Shouting about the evil Hitler apologists while praising the likes of Stalin is idiotic. Stalin is just as evil a murderous bastard as Hitler was. Lets not forget socialists and especially communists have murdered more people than any other ideology. People who talk about one of those “not being as bad as the other guys” are rationalizing some of the most despicable people on the planet.

Recent events could be wonderfully illustrative of just how evil and stupid identity politics are. If you don’t unequivocally condemn and fight identity politics, you have no room to complain when other people do it. If your gut reaction is to worry about backlash for one identity group and fling a wide swath of blame for another, you might want to take a step back and reflect for a minute. The way to fight identity politics is to fight identity politics, if you condemn with one side of your mouth and praise with the other side you will never gain a moral or intellectual foothold because you don’t deserve one. The reason many apt political moral equivalents like comparing antifa and neo-nazis are derided is due to a critical lack of introspection and honesty. A bad guy on your team is still a bad guy.
I think some people are letting their completely normal dislike of college kids that have weird haircuts and ironic tattoos and like socialism and letting that decide “Fuck 'em…if someone wants to say they’re as bad as Neo-Nazis and KKK fine so long as it gets them ridiculed too.”

It certainly does not seem to be getting better but this tension really started to percolate under the obama administration who would occasionally throw gas on the fire by making statements about issues before the facts were gathered. His statements about Ferguson and Trayvon Martin sure didn’t help racial tensions.

And I realize Trump is ineloquent, but I don’t see what he said that was wrong. He said there was no place for racial hatred and violence in the US. He said there was violence on both sides, judging from the video, that is true though I don’t know who started it. He’s denounced the White supremacists multiple times, calling them out by name, he’s called for unity… Nothing seems to be enough for the media.
I am pretty sure Trump could lynch a member of each white supremacist group on the white house lawn and they would still criticize him for siding with them.
Here’s the problem with denouncing them outright as a president and politician, they have a right to hate to be white supremacists, to want all people of color abolished, etc. In this country they have that right and it is illegal to take that from them and/ or infringe on their rights to be assholes.
The president can condemn hatred and violence, but technically he cannot call out a group and say “You’re not allowed to be that”. As long as they are not violent and peaceably assemble, they can hate, cuss and spewed hate filled vomit all day long. Neither the congress or the president can infringe on their rights. Otherwise, you may be looking at a well funded law suite that goes to the Supreme Court and if they side with hate filled assholes, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Let them win a federal case, whitey will becoming out of cracks you didn’t even know exists…

Unfortunately, too true. I really don’t understand the wide spread antisemitism. White supremacists don’t like Jews, but they hate everybody not white so that’s a given. But the antisemitism on the “tolerant” left is what I don’t get. They mask it in PC speak, by talking about mean ol’ Israel and how they are mean to their neighbors who want to run the streets red with Jewish blood.
Israel should just give into the demands of terrorists and fold up their tent and leave and never retaliate for terrorist attacks on their soil.

Yes it’s good to condemn violence. But he made a terrible mistake of taking up some I’ll advised talking points that are pulled straight from extreme right wing propoganda. PC arguments meant to make white nationalism seem not so bad.
When someone ask you if you think the neo nazis are bad, you answer yes and move on.
I don’t care if he isn’t speaking up for all the other activist groups. Just explicit publicly condemning nazis, and don’t rehash their talking points to make it seem that becoming a neo nazi is an okay response to BLM or some other racially based activist group.
