Missle for Combat Forum Members

Wow…thank you, Idaho. I am honored that you would include me on that. Stay safe, brother.

Either I’m too European or this is too American.

Well, I am sure it could be either one, since, I just finished an operation with some Romanians. After I posted this, I started to pull it because the combat forum is no place for personal political views. I live in a very isolated world, where war is ongoing and killing th enemy is like going to the gym. I will be the first to admit my sense of humor is macabe.I have a deep seated hatred for filthy Islamic Extremists, barbaric butchers like ISIS and Al-Sharbaab. I have walked through markets after these “warriors” detonate an IED, seeing the dead, mostly young childen, their body parts mixed in with the trash. I hate them so bad, I even broke one of my own rules and posted something on GAL (God, Forbid:))

“As naive as it sounds, the collective governments of this world, regardless of religious faith, needs to hang its head for allowing this filth to exist. A T-Nation member stared a thread on the meaning of “triumph”, well here’s mine: That every member of ISIS, AL-QAEDA, AQAP, AL-SHABAAD, BOKO HARAM, etc…their financial supporters and sympathizers, die a slow and horrible death, their bodies sliced and diced and fed to the hogs”.

Actually, the combat forum is the only social media interaction I have, so, I sometimes forget not everyone here is in my line of work. If I took your post correctly, extreme views are better suited elsewhere. Point Taken.

Well Brother, given that the freedom we all enjoy to share our views without fear of reprisal is largely the product of the killing and dying being done by men like you today and throughout our history; I, for one, am prepared to grant you a significant amount of latitude when it comes to sharing your own views, however “extreme” they may appear to some.

Thanks for your service and your contributions here. Again, be safe.

This is quite possibly one of the best subforums on the internet. Besides the great discussions on all things relating to combat, it’s small gestures like this thread, no matter what one’s sensibilities might be, that truly give the combat section a special character. So much for me sticking to lurking.

Idaho, what’s your opinion of the Romanian servicemen you’ve encountered and worked with so far?

Awesome!

Let me put it this way - my first thought when I see missiles is ‘collateral damage’.

That being said, do post away. It’s a free country and I don’t mean this in a sarcastic sense. I may not find it awesome or funny but I’ll insist on your right to post it.

No need to apologize brother, I doubt that anyone here disagrees with you in your opinions about those death cult groups that you must deal with on a daily basis.

I am the first person to say that I truly wish diplomacy worked in all situations, that I wish just talking to everyone and/or hugging it out would somehow stop all of the evil acts that human beings commit, and that peaceful means of conflict resolution always worked. But, sadly, I must also admit that this simply isn’t the reality of the world we currently live in. There are people out there who are psychopathic, sociopathic, or to put it in more black and white terms evil.

Most of us here in the US (and Europe) are lucky enough to not have to be faced with this evil on a daily basis and so have the ability to push these horrible truths out of our minds. But we should all be thankful that there are people like yourself that are willing to stand in harm’s way and that are willing to deal with the horrors of this World so the rest of us don’t have to.

So, in my opinion at least, you have earned the right to vent or voice your views. Thank you for your service.

I’m a very liberal democrat and I still think it’s awesome hahaha.

Still love it!

First , welcome to the Combat Forum and I hope you visit often, since, you stated you have been lurking, you know this is the place to increase your knowledge in the combat arts.

I cannot offer you a detailed analysis of the Romanians since they have only been here for about 5 weeks. I have had the most enteraction with their intel officers and limited contact with the regular troops. These are not SF troops, so, their training is probably different from what I am used to. That said, some minor observations:

  • Their desert BDU"s are , quite possibly, the ugliest I have ever seen:))

  • The vast majority speak fluent English, especially the officers, which is a nice surprise considering my past work with the Georgians and Slovakians.

  • I have noticed a higher education standard. I dont know if that is a product of their military training or the education system in Romania.

  • I have not been in any sporty situations with them, so, I cannot comment on their CQB skills at this time, but, their small unit tactics seem solid, their tactical vehicle skills flow with the US Army and the Australians. In fact, their tactics seem to come straight from the NATO handbook.

  • I have noticed two odd things about their weapons (pictures attached). I dont know them well enough to start asking pointed questions about their weapons, remember this is a regular unit, not SF. SF units are more informal. Regular units are twitchy about their weapons and dont like any perceived criticsm from outsiders, especially an American:)). First, is almost the total lack of optics on their rifles. Almost all units, whether German, Dutch, American, whatever, their troops are equipped with Aimpoints, EOTechs, etc. Its strange to see troops carrying AK’s with WOODEN stocks and pistol foregrips. Second, I have seen a large amount of Romanian PLS/AK system rifles. (picture). These are full sized rifles and much too long for small unit entries and urban assualts. I understand, if they have a doctrine about having some type of long range backup, but, like I said, I dont know them well enough to start questioning their usues. I know, I want to shoot one of them:))

  • General physical fitness seems to be current standard, I have not seen any fat desk officers.

  • In the chow hall, the few times I have been around them, they are polite, which believe me, is a bigger deal than you think.

  • From my limited contact: Professional.

I hope this helps.

Its all good brother, no problem. I certainly understand your concern over collateral damage. I am not assigned to anything concerning the drones, but, I have been involved in discussions( intell) and I know they go to supreme lengths to prevent any civilian deaths. There are never any random or hasty decisions made in firing a Hellfire.

Sento,
Thank you for the kind post, but, I am just a small clog in a very complex wheel. I would like to give credit to the people who really are on the front lines of the terror war: The Intelligence Analyst. These people are tasked with an impossible job, scanning and analyzing millions of bytes of electronic data, searching for some connection to the next attack, or searching for collection patterns to launch a SF mission. There has never been a successsful operation without a team of intell people pointing the way. Point and shoot knuckledraggers like me have it easy, its like dispatchers for the LEO’S, “they tell you were to go”.

Thanks, Idaho. It’s always interesting to hear about former Warsaw Pact militaries/security services. Your observations on their level of education and fluency in English leave me pleasantly surprised, seems like you’ve met a squared away bunch of dudes. There’s much more that could be said, but I’d hate to hijack the thread.

A lot of us use the “Bad Ideas” thread to post and talk about any combat related subject. I often post stuff over there on a variey of subjects: weapons, equipment, ask for advise on fighting systems, LEO shootings, checking on lost members, etc. If you read through the thread there is no subject off limits. Ask a question over there and someone will get back to you.

Idaho - Love that you did this, behind you (cowering) 100%. I’m about to start my specialist training to be ‘on the front lines of the terror war’ as you described it, and it really hit home how serious the burden is to make the right analysis, and how much guys are relying on you to make the right interpretations.

Vrednic - Welcome to the forum, good to have you hear. Thank you for the kind words about its quality. It’s the only place I post, and I have tremendous respect and admiration for the guys posting here. It’s a privilege to be a tiny part of it. I hope you learn as much from it as I have.

Thanks, LondonBoxer and best of luck with your endeavours.

This is the most we some thing I’ve seen on a while
Thanks for sharing

Idaho,
Thank you so much. I had no idea. That is literally, the nicest surprise gift I got in 2015. Granted I didn’t know about it until now, but still.

So, Irish, London, and myself on the same missile. Is it possible for a Hellfire to be drunk? With just Irish and me it seems angry and vulgar would also be risks.

Wonderful, wonderful surprise.

Thank you.

Regards,

Robert A

@Robert_A - HAHAHAHAHAH.

We’re that angry, drunk missile that rarely works right but will still hit any goddamn building around no matter how big it is because FUCK THAT BUILDING
