What would be the minimum ferritin that I can be at to safely donate blood? I had a ferritin level of 53 when I donated a pint this week. Afterwards I had a headache for a good 10 hours. I was considering donating 2 pints next time since my HCT was at 52.3 before I donated.
You CAN donate blood with crashed ferritin, you’ll just feel sluggish.
Iron deficiency without anaemia can cause symptomatology mimicking anaemia for some.
There was a girl donating that said she does that every 2 months. Seems like a lot to me. Right now I do it every 3 months based on how I feel.
