Military Veteran Kills Armed Robber

God, I love stories like this!

Thats awesome.

How relevant, in the advent of Varqanir’s murder thread.

i’m not sure how i feel about that. glad the vet stepped in to save the day and sorry some kid had to die for a few cameras and some traveler’s checks i guess. but hey you mess with the bull and you get the horns.

I love these stories. Youth and vigor is no match for old age and treachery.

The bad guy put himself in play by taking criminal action (“Your money or your life”) and met a bad end by making that choice. When he encountered someone he could not intimidate, he ended up dying dumb…Good riddance…

I in no way shape or form feel sorry for that kid or his mother. IMO she has no place to complain about her sons death, no action should be taken on anyone.

It pisses me off to even think about the fact that she wants action to be taken against the tourists.

One less stupid ass punk on the planet to worry about it. Good Riddance

The cool thing is that the 70+ year old Vet still got to enjoy the rest of his vacation. I hope he was sitting in the hot tub that night smoking a cigar and having a drink.

I can find no joy in the loss of life, yet I am happy no one else was killed.

I echo this sentiment.

Of course there is no joy in loss of life, but in this instance there is also no room for sorrow for the deceased.

A Darwin award to this idiot who obviously hadn’t learned from previous arrests and who blatantly disregarded other people’s feelings.

I would be sorry for the mother who had to endure his stupidity and it’s consequences.

I’d proudly shake the hand of the man who defended others to the best of his ability.

The fact that he did it with his bare hands is impressive. Personally, I don’t shed any tears for the stupid and criminal.

“Costa Rican officials interviewed the Americans, and said they wouldn’t charge the U.S. tourist with any crime because he acted in self-defense.”

Now if only the authorities would grant us the same “privileges” here in Canada and the United States…

Don’t let it piss you off, it’s a grieving mother.

Of course she’ll feel that way, but it doesn’t mean anything, it’s just the maternal instinct kicking in and taking away any objectivity with it.

there’s a city of Liverpool in Costa Rica ???

I think they meant to say Gizzardpuddle. I could be wrong though.

The “kid” didn’t have to die. He didn’t have to try to rob those people and threaten their lives.

He did indeed mess with the bull and got what he deserved.

In a home robbery where force is used to defend the home there are only 2 people involved usually. So when it goes to court, if it gets there it is one man’s word v another man.

In this situation there are so many witnesses who this guy saved it would be ridiculous to try to accuse him of any wrong doing. Imagine witness after witness getting up and saying they feared for their lives and this man saved them.

He is a hero in the truest sense and deserves and award not speculation about his actions.

Jim Croce had a song called " You don’t mess around with Jim", that had a line that said you don’t tug on Superman’s cape, you don’t spit into the wind, you don’t pull the mask off the Ole Lone Ranger, and you don’t mess around with Jim/Slim.

This guy found his Jim/Slim.

He took on an armed assailant with his bare hands, and prevented any innocents from being injured, robbed, or killed.

He’s a hero in my book.
