Metabolic Drive for Breakfast

#1

Seems like 2 of these in the morning would be a pretty good way to start the day, at a cost of like 2 bucks. Someone validate my thoughts, lol.

#2

"Two of these" being, two scoops? As in all 220 cals of it?

Thats a tiny ass breakfast.

#3

Maybe you are talking about the bars?

I generally have oatmeal with a scoop of Metabolic Drive for breakfast (just to up the protein content).

#4

oh shit i meant the bars

man why am i even posting right now, i have been working too hard lately.

#5

You should carb up for breakfast. Try and throw in some carbs in your shake. Oatmeal, fruits, etc...

#6

You still eat "breakfast"?? I eat so many meals throughout the day I don't even label them.

My first meal of the day is always oatmeal chased by a Metabolic Drive shake. I've tried to mix them, but I just can't stand Metabolic Drive mixed into oatmeal. It ruins the taste of both.

Drive bars might be ok, but they just aren't high enough in carbs. They're ok for convenience.

#7

I'd have to disagree on the taste thing(Preference I know). The strawberry Metabolic Drive mixes great with oatmeal, and enhances the flavor of both for me.

#8

Vanilla Metabolic Drive and blueberries or a banana in oatmeal is awesome.

#9

I couldn't imagine actually mixing MD with oatmeal. I make the shake first thing (1-2 scoops, depending on what's on for the morning workout), and while drinking it I drain the excess water from the steel-cut oats and nuke 'em. I sprinkle some raisins on the oats for more flavor.

But it would be hard to start my day without that chocolate shake. Mmmmmm.

#10

Agreed just finished a bowl of oats Pineapple, scoop of Vanilla and scoop of Orange Cream Metabolic Drive with an apple on the side. damn good.

To answer the original question. Sure Ive done it in a hurry. Id say it would be a solid AM feeding and damn tasty as well.

I often have a Metabolic Drive Protein Bar, with a glass of water and my supplements, first thing when I awake.

I then read the paper and my e-mail messages, shower, get ready for work and have the oatmeal, fruit, Metabolic Drive Protein Powder combination that I previously mentioned.

This works great for me.

2 cups of frozen mixed berries plus 2 scoops, either vanilla or strawberry, or one of each.

This is usually my first meal out the door in the morning, you get all the antioxidant benefits of the berries and a decent smoothy to start out the day. It's also so damn cold it sort've wakes ya up in the morning at work. an hour and a half to two hours later though, it's time for something else (as this 32 oz smoothy is only about 340 kcals tops)

#13

thanks for the suggestions. I wake up with zero appetite (and then compound the problem later with massive caffiene intake), so I find it dificult to get a solid first meal. I thought the bars would do the trick, but today I only got 3/4 to 7/8 of a bar down between 9 am and my lunch at 11:30. I was aiming for 2 with 40g protein and 50g carbs.

I think Im going to try some oatmeal and a shake, see how that goes down.

#14

If you are having issues with appetite, a liquid breakfast would be the way to go.

I blend the powder with some fruit, it tastes fantastic and means that I can handle the thought of some more solid food in a hour or so.

#15

oatmeal and Metabolic Drive with some milk in the blender is lovely. just had my morning helping chased down with 2 slices of wholmeal toast with banana on.

#16

Maybe it's just me, but I dont' like cold oatmeal. How exactly are you guys making this? Are you cooking the oatmeal or eating it cold? Do you add in extra liquid to the oatmeal so that the Metabolic Drive has something to mix with? I would think if you didn't increase the liquid that the mixture would become paste.

If we could get some breakfast recipes, including actual measurements, that would be helpful to all. I remember a Grow! recipe post w hile back, but that was mostly for smoothies and other odd concotions, not breakfast ones.

#17

I go with two scoops of Vanila Metabolic Drive, some frozen srawberries and a packet of Quaker Weight Control Oatmeal (banana bread flavor) blended together, I love the taste!! Maybe some fresh pineapple on the side

#18

One cup old-fashioned oalmeal (rolled oats)
Two cups of water.
Microwave for 3 minutes.
Add 1/2 cup frozen blueberries and stir.
Add 1 scoop Metabolic Drive vanilla protein powder.
Eat and smile!

You can use many different fruits and Metabolic Drive flavors -- just experiment. It's not rocket science.

Cherry-Vanilla Grow! Muffins:

12 muffins

187 cal
14g cho
19g protein
9g fat
6g fiber
(this is for batch made with water, milk will change profile slightly, and cho adjusted for fiber already)

1.5 cup Oat Bran
1 cup flax meal
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1.5 tablespoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
7 scoops Grow!
1/2 cup walnuts

1 cup fresh or frozed cherries, rough chopped (if using frozen berries, do NOT thaw!)

2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1-1.5 cups water or milk

Blend dry ingredients thoroughly in a large bowl. Make a well in center add eggs, vanilla, and 1 cup of liquid.

Give the eggs/liquid a whisk with a fork, just enough to break up the yolks, then stir into dry with a wooden spoon, it will be immediately apparent if you need a little more water/milk. Stir in cherries.

Spray a muffin pan with cooking spray, don't use paper muffin cups as they will stick.

Bake at 375 for 20 minutes. They will generally not darken much on top, just a light gold, mostly around the edges so don't overcook.

Eat! They will be sweet, moist, fragrant, and delicious.

You can change the fruit/Grow! flavor for myriad taste sensations, just don't thaw frozen fruit/berries prior to use.
