Med Ball Throws

#1

For those of you who lift in a commercial gym like me, how do you do your med ball throws? I hate trying to do them because there are people everywhere and I don't want to risk hitting an 89 year old elderly woman or anyone else. Looking for some thoughts on this....

Do them outside - you can’t throw a med ball in a commercial gym unless you have a ton of open space and no people. I use my lawn but there are parking lots and schools, etc.

I used an unoccupied racquetball room when I was at a commercial gym. Get in, get your throws in, get out before next group has room reserved.

Would you suggest just doing them in the yard whenever possible? I live 30 mins away from my gym out in the country…I normally just do the box jumps before I lift but wanted to start doing the med ball throws too…

Personally, I have substituted kettlebell (or T-Bar, or dumbbell) swings for overhead med ball throws when in a commercial gym setting, focusing on really snapping the weight up quickly and explosively. And as long as the ball is soft enough and doesn’t rebound high, I do med ball slams to the ground in a commercial setting.
