It takes 2 to tango. The Cons have ALWAYS fought regulation. Suddenly McCain wants to be a hero and fix the problem with regulation. Where was he for the last 26 years?

Take a look back over the last 2-3 years and then tell me the republicans didn’t try to rein in F&F. The proposals never even made it out of committee.

I’m not saying they’re aren’t republicans involved - but I’d like someone to name them. I can name at least 4 prominent democrats who need to be investigated for their role in the F&F collapse.

  4. Johnson (I think)

The last 2 are on Obama’s econmic team, and have made pocketed over $100million combined from bonuses paid to them from F&F’s cooked books.

Yeah, F&F paid out fortunes in contributions to BOTH sides. But who ran the show?..Rick Davis, McCain’s campaign manager. He was paid $35,000 a month for five years as president of an advocacy group set up by F&F to defend them against stricter regulations. The whole damn thing was cracked.

Name a republican.

Rick Davis walked away from his firm in 2005. He has not taken a penny from that business since then. Unlike Obama, who has received over $100K in the last 2 years from F&F to keep from supporting anything that would tip the liberal gravy train that is F&F.

The Raines allegation is misleading. He doesn’t work for Obama’s campaign, and is not on their economic team. Anything that says otherwise is a likely fabrication.

I remember reading somewhere that the Washington Post was the source, but from what I can tell that newspaper is a glorified tabloid at this point. Makes the NYT look like the most neutral news source in the universe.

The Rick Davis issue is more complicated, but seems to be false. I’d like to see Anennberg investigate it rather than the NYT. From what I can tell most politically non-partisan outlets are reporting that Raines doesn’t work for Obama.

If I understand the F&F problem correctly, wasn’t the majority of damage done well before and leading up to 2005? It just happened that it blew up now after he left. Now I’m not saying he’s guilty but it’s also hard to ignore the fact that he was consulting for them while a lot of bad decisions were made.

I think it’s misleading to say he walked away before the shit hit the fan. Am I missing something? I think there is still some credibility to the piece… atleast enough to raise eyebrows.

Also the amount of money is irrelevant IMO

Just as a side, the dems involved should not get off as clean as they are. If Obama ever got elected he’d be seen as a hell of a maverick if he were to call for an investigation into the suspicious involvement with his fellow dems.
