Martial Art of Antiquity: Pankration

A documentary by the History Channel on Pankration, the Ancient Greek all-encompassing martial art.

It highlights some of the similarities between it and MMA and has some interesting cultural insights on the importance this martial art had on the armies and athletes of those days.

Thought some of you would find it interesting.

I’ve read a couple things that delve into that… it’s wholly untrue.

By the way, I think it’s awesome that they’re reconstructing it from scenes from Ancient Antiquity inscribed on pots and in statues… how fuckin cool.
