Mariusz Pudzianowski to MMA?

he’s a freak’in beast I would hate to fight that man. power and strength can at times overtake skill

To fit in with this discussion a little bit, didn’t a contributor/and powerlifter from EliteFTS recently make the transition from powerlifting to MMA???

I faintly remember reading an article on EliteFTS talking about his transition amd his training.

EDIT found the articles:
http://www.elitefts.com/documents/powerlifting_to_mma.htm
http://www.elitefts.com/documents/powerlifting_to_fighting.htm

This is like the 8th time in the last couple years I’ve heard of Mariusz moving to MMA.

good find. I like the 2nd one. I had seen the first one in one of their email newsletters. must have missed the 2nd one.

Sounds pretty legit

i think the outcome of any fight w/ mariusz would end in him picking his opponoent up over his head and tossing him out of the cage… well into the audience.

I saw this on the EliteFTS website. I think it’s slightly ridiculous as strongman competitions and MMA are worlds apart. He’s also fairly old, being 32. However, he has boxed and is a black belt in karate.

I also think he’s too stiff, too big and not conditioned enough. He probably doesn’t have any grappling training.

I think he would get embarrassed. Any thoughts?[/quote]

Don’t under estimate him

That could work, otherwise he might just give them a bear hug till they tap out, or die! Its going to be interesting to see how he goes. I have a feeling he might just handle himself pretty well

He’s tailor made to fight in Japan. He’s not young enough to pick up a skillset good enough to beat A class MMA fighters, but his physical attributes and WSM credentials should get him pretty far financially and in terms of competition if he chooses to go to Dream/ K 1.

I’m just waiting on people to start making predictions about Pudzianowski v Silva

Imagine trying to armbar that dude

The man does strongman and plays rugby. His conditioning should not be questioned.
What should be asked is, how good is his chin? He certainly has a strong neck…

There’s a small documentary of him on youtube. He went to prison for killing his friend in a car accident or something a long time ago.
From what I remember he IS an accomplished boxer who was on the olympic team for boxing.
If you can make it on the olympic team, you know your shit.

Anyways he always stopped because he didn’t like getting hit in the face all the time.
Which people who have boxed know that coming home from class with a headache all the time is not fun lol.

he would bicep curl your entire body if you try to armbar him. He could probably tap people out by getting a wrestler’s collar tie and crushing their necks until they feel him grab their spine. Hell, he could slam anybody like Sapp did to Minotauro, except that his slam will end with a dented floor.

I have concluded that Pudz will dance circles around his competition.

I think he would dominate alot of people, I have no idea what his chin is like but to assume he wouldnt do good because he is “stiff or not conditioned” is foolish.

You gotta remember he was a golden gloves boxxer, he has a fourth kyu green belt in Kyokushin kaikan and he also took second in polands version of dancing with the stars so he is obviously athletic and I guarantee he is conditioned, Havent you ever seen him run around with kegs and giant bags of sand through water.

He would ruin a lot of fighters faces.

People underestimate the fact that a lot of the huge guys that come into MMA in later age like Carwin, Brock, Coleman etc… have a world class wrestling pedigree. A world class wrestling pedigree is not only an amazing base for MMA, it also complements the athletic qualities and size these guys have very well, perhaps better than any other martial art.

Mariusz has no world class pedigree in fighting as a base and is starting off very late. In addition to this I don’t know how he would deal with being drug tested, which is part of the game in fighting in MMA. His best bet is to fight in Japan and make huge money while beating some B list HW’s like Mighty Mo and Hong Man, without having to worry about drug tests or weight class limits.
