Great job man!

I wouldn’t expect anything less from Canadians!

Congratulations on completing your first meet, learning a lot in the process, and still exceeding your own goals and expectations! I’m happy for you!

@BOTSLAYER, I think you have a testimonial for your coaching! Congrats to you too for helping someone nail their first prep!

Great job! You killed it! Question: How do you feel the day after, physically?

@dchris - Thanks dude, deadlifts felt great yesterday.

@losthog - Yep, the peaking worked excellent and can’t complain at all about how the day went! Haha, I was kind of mad at myself after I tweaked my back for not just adjusting the height to suit me better.

@Irishman92 - I would have to change my name every year though because I’m not stopping at 1500!! Thanks man.

@simo74 - Thank you. It was a great learning experience and met a few people there who invited me to come train with them at a local PL gym. So I may do a drop-in there once a month or so and lift with others that might help me progress.

@MarkKO - Thanks Mark, I appreciate all the tips and help along the way. I feel pretty good about that meet and I think I might be addicted…

@mr.v3lv3t - Thank you! Sore as hell today!

@duketheslaya - Thanks man, it was a long day but I enjoyed every minute of it!

@steigs - I appreciate it, it was a very enjoyable first meet and glad the hard work paid off!

@danteism - Thanks man, I appreciate the support.

@Frank_C - Haha, right? Hit my goal, met some people, learned a lot…a great day!

@ littlelee - Thanks! I’m somewhat crippled today, but that is very specifically from my error on the squat warmup. Otherwise I feel some very slight DOMS in my lower back and hips, but it is my middle-right back muscle (not going to bother looking up what the muscle is called) that is extremely tight.

I hope your back is Cool real fast.

@MarkKO - I was shocked when the bar flew up. It did not feel like 672lbs!

@FlatsFarmer - Thanks haha! Team no underpants, for the win.

@Koestrizer - I appreciate it man! Very pleased with how it went.

@kckfl349 - Part of me is curious as to what I could have managed on that day, but I sure am feeling beat up still today! Back and hip flexors are still screaming.

I’ll be going to the gym to go through the motions tomorrow, but still don’t plan on doing much. Likely book a massage this week and try and do some yoga daily to help recovery!

I have 3 weeks before heading to the cottage for a week of vacation, so I’m going to try and lose a lb or two by then. I will be blending into a “Mass for Powerlifting” program written by Paul Carter from Paul and Thib’s Maximum Muscle Bible. My back and hipflexor are still ~50% so I’m going to try to be smart here and not prolong the comeback.

Nice little pump workout. Feeling it all this morning as it has been awhile since I’ve done more than 1rep sets after peaking for my competition. Feels good! This is how I have it laid out for now, it will likely see some changes as I give the workouts a run through.

What’d you think of this book? Been thinking of picking up some new training material and this has piqued my curiosity a few times.

I like it a lot actually. It has a wide selection of programs and a good basic nutrition section. It’s a book I’ve went back to a few times when I find myself caught up in the myriad of information on the internet. A good blend between Paul Carter’s no-nonsense style, mixed with CT’s use of intensification methods.

Sounds legit, might have to bump it up the list! Thanks!

Any idea if The Maximum Muscle Bible trumps CT’s Black Book of Training Secrets?

The latter was released in '06 and the enhanced edition came out in '14.

I see what you did there :joy:

That’s what it’s called!

I haven’t read that one, so I can’t compare. I do really like reading Paul Carter’s stuff, so the Max Muscle Bible would probably still get my vote, but can’t say for sure.
