Well, I thought the penny was still a legal form or tender. I guess they wanted them rolled.
I read somewhere a long time ago that businesses are not forced by law to accept tender they don’t feel is good. Such as badly mangled bills or an abundance of coins.
Dumping pennies all over the fucking floor and demand that staff count them is indeed disorderly conduct.

On a related note, I just went out and bought groceries, paying only with nickels. I was being friendly. The cashier counted them patiently.
