It’s not going to boost either enough to make any difference at all. I would think boosting testosterone should result in boosting estrogen as well.
This means that you need t be careful with your supplements. The Folic Acid that they put in everything can actually be worse than counterproductive for you and cause false test levels of even the B12. Depending on the severity - which is individual - you might need to use some methylated forms of folate, but you have to be careful with those as they can be overdone pretty easily. Also, what else do you take when you take your magnesium at bedtime? Plenty of things affect absorption.
Boosting estrogen, possible toxicity above 10mg depending on other trace minerals level and also as much as I know the SHBG inhibiting effect is greatly reduced after the first 3-4 weeks so it is recommended to be cycled.
To be honest even if I didnt feel like crap from it I doubt I would use it. And for a guy on TRT I see no point because in most cases TRT regulates SHBG anyway, not to see that having high SHBG is associated with better health rather than having low. I’ve heard some of the best hormonal doctors saying never to try to lower SHBG, just my 2 cents
@vonko1988
Did you read the giant thread on why to use boron on TRT? It doesn’t effect SHBG enough to matter, that isn’t even a reason to take it and most people are taking 3-6 mg with the only exception I’ve ever heard being from dbossa who takes 20mg for some reason. Very few folks on TRT have SHBG issues. There’s a lot on this forum but even then it’s not that many. Read that thread if you want to know why to take boron when on TRT. Me putting it in two sentences helps no one.
Hm I need to recheck again because I dont remember to have found in that thread anything else significant except SHBG. I know the studies I’ve seen them about SHBG and also I know old school powerlifters who have great bro science theory about boron
Do you take it and what dosage?
@vonko1988
I would listen to old school powerlifters about lifting heavy weight. Less so about their opinion on boron. I take 3mg/day to help with vit D, magnesium absorption and healthy bone growth.
There’s nothing boring about boron.
Thanks @hardartery
You mean in supplements?
Yes i already am using , EOD. I might have already overdone it. Will check for my folate next week and move on depending on the labs.
My B12 is slightly above the range. I wonder if it’s false.
For couple of months it was Magnesium 400mg along with 50mg DHEA and glutamine. Now
i take it with calcium every night and with zinc and copper 2 days a week.
Don’t take these together. The minerals all compete for the same transport systems, so you won’t get the benefit. Your body will absorb most or all of one of these, a little of another, and likely none of the rest. They need to be taken at least two hours apart. Not the DHEA or glutamine, they’re fine, just the Calcium, Copper, Zinc, Magnesium and Iron if you start taking that at some point. Folic Acid is in a lot of food, they fortify cereals and flour with it so it’s in any bread you eat too. Many countries mandate it being added into a lot of things.
Thank you. Really appreciate the info!
Though I think i still should have much higher magnesium rbc than what my labs suggests.
I am only taking it with calcium since last month. There must be some other reason/problem why it’s so low.
Very useful chart!
@dextermorgan - Thanks for the chart! Also, I sent you an email a few minutes ago. If you have a chance please let me know your thoughts.
Minerals are notoriously difficult to assess by bloodwork. Mostly they are stored in bones and tissues, so the blood levels are only part of the story. If you have been low for a long time, your body is busy squirreling away what you are giving it right now, and won’t leave it floating in the serum until it has enough stored.
Got it. Thanks!
