I thought that consuming any more than 40 to 45 grams of protein at a time was not digested and therefore wasted. If anything close holds true to that, then how do I consume 400 grams a day other than 40 grams every hour?

The 40-45 grams of protein limit per sitting is a well known bodybuilding myth. You must consume 400-500 grams of protein per day to gain any benefit from an androgen. Just follow the program as presented and enjoy the gains:)
Though consuming 400-500 grams of protein per day while NOT on androgens would be a complete waste IMO.
