Macronutrient breakdown

I am trying to figure out how to breakdown my macronutrients. I always seem to go over my calories. Lets say I have figured out that I need 52G carbs, 31G protein, and 10G fat each meal. This is based on a 2500 calorie diet with a profile of 50-30-20.

Meal example: 1 cup of oatmeal= 54G carbs, 300 cals.
1.5 scoops low carb Grow= 30 grams pro., 165 cals.
Total cals:465

This meal is excatly what I need but it has gone over my calorie mark by about 50 calories. This doesn’t sound like much, but when you add it up over 6 meals it comes out with a surplus of 250 cals. which seems like quite a bit (or is it?) when you are trying to lose fat. Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

All your meals don’t have to have the same amount of calories. Just make it up in your other meals, so that you are still in the ballpark for the whole day’s calorie need.

That happens because most foods have “hidden” calories, i.e., oatmeal has a little (but calorically nontrivial) bit of fat and protein in it, Grow has a little bit of fat and carbs in it, and so on. Account for it and it isn’t a problem.
