So, I don’t wanna give the impression that I was obese, etc. More like, I put on some college weight. Anyway, recently i’ve been dieting to lose the weight, and I recognize that dieting is a huge part of being cut.
My concern is that i’ve been lifting and i’ve dropped a lot of weight off to a point where I can actually see my upper abs in the morning before i’ve started eating etc. I feel like i’m looking great and i’m fairly lean…but I still don’t see the definition that I see on a lot of the leaner guys who lift regularly.
My arms look like 2 long poles of flesh unless I flex them…I want them and my shoulders to be defined even without flexing them. Is this a genetic thing or am I just NOT lean enough. I’d still like to lose some more weight but i feel like if I lose much more i’ll be TOO skinny.
Sorry for such a lame first post, but I’m looking for advice. Thanks guys. This site is great, i’ve read so many posts and learned a lot but I haven’t noticed anything about this? Maybe I missed it.
The search feature however isn’t working for me right now, it doesn’t even load…so if you guys could comment or point me to a thread dealing with this, i’d be grateful. Thanks.
And if you’re keen on staying lean i’d recommend investing in a Tanita/Omron/woteva…digital body fat scale as well.[/quote]
Read that thread, if you haven’t already. But I don’t know about the bf scale thing. My roommate got one and it’s next to worthless IMO. I played around with it a little, and it’s wildly inconsistent from one moment to the next. It might be better than nothing, I guess. But it really could give you a headache.
Yeah, BMI is worthless and I don’t think you’re lean enough and I also don’t think you have enough muscle. You can’t flex bone man. Btw, don’t mention genetics. It doesn’t mean crap if you’ve been working out seriously for less than maybe 10 years.
Thibaudeau used to think he had a genetic inability to see his abs. Now look at him.
Combine the both, and you’ll know if you’re heavy with low fat = muscular.
light with low fat = skinny
heavy with plenty of fat
light with plenty of fat = skinny fat.
