Low T Due to Low Cholesterol? Any Suggestions Looking at my Labs?

how is 133 low cholesterol? sorry im jumping in here. i know sometimes range is meh! but range for his cholesterol is 100-200 and he scored 133.

if that is true then i have low cholesterol too?!

CHOLESTEROL MG/DL 163.00 FROM 50.00-200.00
TRYGLYCERIDES 55.00 FROM 35.00-200.00
HDL 80.00 80 FROM 37-71
LDL 72 FROM 0-130.00

I wished I knew more about this but something in the back of my head is telling me the cholesterol you measure in the blood lipid panel LDL HDL try’s that stuff is not the same cholesterol that makes T. An increasing your lipid cholesterol will not increase the cholestrol that makes T. Hopefully someone here that knows what I am talking about can jump in and explain it better.

I read that around 140 you can have problems producing enough testosterone. There are also some studies that show a correlation between HDL and testosterone, the higher HDL, the higher the T levels. According to some sources HDL as low as mine could apparently also cause some other health issues, not sure how much this depends on how high your LDL is though. Unfortunately there is not a lot of info out there when it comes to low cholesterol.

so im guessing my cho is in a good spot for t? sorry to ask

Mindphaser,

I too have naturally low cholesterol, as does my father. I believe without a doubt that there is a genetic component to this. I usually run around 145 Total cholesterol, but was 130 on my last bloods in November. Last year I tried to raise it by eating eggs, bacon, and almonds every day. This brought it up to 165.

Do you have any digestive issues? I believe absorption may be part of the problem for me. I’m currently doing a restart and want to see where all of my hormones sit naturally. This thread has been a reminder that I need to refocus on a high fat diet and give my body the building blocks it needs.

i mean 165 is not that far from 140 idk if that would make a huge diference.

I wouldn’t think you need to worry. I think if at al it’s the numbers that are below 140 that may be problematic.

No, I am just not eating any animal products, so I am not adding any cholesterol through my diet. All I have is what my body produces. I drastically switched my diet towards more fat intake, but I don’t have any updated numbers yet.

I just thought about it. A common side effects of statin drugs are libido loss and ED, and I think low T as well. I wonder if it’s because of their effect on cholesterol or if other mechanisms are responsible for that.

Does anybody see something in my lab results that points to either primary or secondary hypogandism? I am not sure at this point if TRT is the only option for me…

You are missing the two blood test you need to determine that. FSH and LH they are the two signals your pituitary gland sends to your nuts to make sperm and T

T-E2

Looking at your numbers do you take blood pressure medicine? Your BP is way to high for your age. You should be 102-120 over 65-75 no higher on either.

Are they responsible for sperm production only or for testosterone as well?

It’s usually not that high, I had to rush to the appointment and was still out of breath.
