Will seasoning your chicken w/ beer, garlic, lemon, etc… be counterprodutive when on a low carb diet?
Ralf, not at all. As a general rule, I don’t count spices toward my carb counts, and there isn’t any reason you need to count the carbs in a lemon juice/beer marinade.
The carbs and calories in sauces and dressings, though, can really add up fast. Try and track down some Walden Farms BBQ and Shrimp Cocktail Sauce. A 2T serving has 0 calories, 0 carbs, 0 fat, 0 protein. And the flavor is fabulous!
Salsas are another “topping” that gets people in trouble…most are VERY healthy, and some people use them to flavor almost EVERYTHING!
You just have to factor in the carbs (and sometimes the sodium) that can add up…
No problem with the seasonings though…
